Fort Zeelandia (Inner Walls) Introduction
In 1622, the Dutch constructed Fort Oranje, which was completed in 1640 and renamed Fort Zeelandia. The fort is divided into inner and outer forts. The inner fort is square-shaped and consists of three levels, with the lower level located underground, serving as a warehouse. Above ground, there are two levels, with angled bastions at each corner. There are three gates: north, east, and south, with the north gate bearing the inscription T'CASTEEL ZEELDIA GEBOUWED ANNO 1634 (Fort Zeelandia was built in 1634). The lower level also has angled bastions, and each side of the platform has a semi-circular bastion, each containing a well in the center.
