Prince Temple Mingzhi Palace Introduction

Mingzhi Temple is dedicated to Zhongtan Yuanshuai, commonly known as the Third Prince. The temple was built during the Ming Yongli period, and its construction is filled with legendary tales. It is said that residents living near the Jiyu Pond saw a piece of wood floating upstream on the pond, accompanied by thousands of grasshoppers. Driven by curiosity, they followed the wood until it drifted to the shore and stopped. The grasshoppers did not leave, and there were seven holes in the wood. While they were puzzled, someone passed by, chanting, "I am the Prince, sent to save and protect the villagers. I hope the villagers will build a temple for worship." The origins of the temple's construction are still fondly recounted by the local elders, and the drifting wood was used to carve the statue of Zhongtan Yuanshuai, which is enshrined to this day.
