Zheng Wang Fu Introduction
In the fifteenth year of the reign of Emperor Yongli of the Ming Dynasty (the eighteenth year of the Shunzhi era of the Qing Dynasty, 1661 AD), over three hundred years ago, three brothers from the Lei family in Fujian Province embarked on a journey to Taiwan in late summer. They set sail from the coast of Fujian on three ships, filled with ambition, accompanied by their wives and several servants. A statue of the deity Wengfu Qiansui was enshrined on board. However, as they approached Kuo-Sheng Harbor, a sudden northeast monsoon struck, bringing fierce winds and heavy rain, with raging waves. Despite their efforts, fate could not be changed; their ships were struck by towering waves just as they were about to reach the harbor, leading to the sinking of the vessels along with the brothers, their families, sturdy men, and the golden statue of Wengfu Qiansui.
