Guosheng Lighthouse Introduction
Located on a sandbar, the Guosheng Harbor Lighthouse, built in 1957, is situated in the Guosheng Harbor of Qigu District, Tainan City. It is the westernmost lighthouse in Taiwan, constructed with a conical steel framework painted in alternating black and white colors. After being commissioned, the original Guosheng Harbor Lighthouse was heavily impacted by typhoons and coastal erosion, leading to its base being submerged in the ocean. In 1969, it was destroyed by Typhoon Aura, rendering it unusable. In June of the following year, a new lighthouse was built nearby at Dingtou Eshan to replace the original one. Recommended one-day itinerary: Qigu Salt Mountain → Taiwan Salt Museum → Boat trip on Qigu Lagoon → Guosheng Harbor Lighthouse. It is not recommended to visit at night due to lack of lighting. Please be cautious of the north entrance at the northern bank of the embankment, as sand can easily accumulate there due to wind. It is advisable to enter through the south entrance of the northern embankment for safety.
