Guosheng Harbor Lighthouse Introduction
The Guosheng Harbor Lighthouse, built in 1957, stands on a sandbank at the westernmost point of Taiwan. Located in the Qigu District of Tainan City, it is the westernmost lighthouse in Taiwan and features a conical steel framework with alternating black and white colors. The original Guosheng Harbor Lighthouse began operation but was lost to the sea due to typhoon damage and tidal erosion, eventually submerging entirely. After being struck by Typhoon Viola in 1969, the tower collapsed and became unusable. In June 1970, a new lighthouse was constructed nearby to replace the old one. Suggested one-day itinerary: Qigu Salt Mountain → Taiwan Salt Museum → boat ride at Qigu Lagoon → Guosheng Harbor Lighthouse. It is not recommended to visit at night due to the lack of illumination. Please be cautious of safety when visiting, as the northern entrance of the northern embankment can easily accumulate sand and soil due to strong winds, which may cause vehicles to get stuck. It is advised to enter from the southern entrance of the northern embankment.
