Diyuan Temple Introduction
Diyuan Temple is located in Hongshuikeng, Liugui District, near Caidie Valley and Laonong Creek. It is a branch of Yuan Zhao Temple in Qishan, ranked among the three major temples in Liugui alongside Shenwei Tiantai Mountain and Miaochong Temple. Diyuan Temple enshrines Śākyamuni Buddha and Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva, attracting numerous devotees and maintaining a thriving incense activity even on regular days. Surrounded by mountains, the temple presents a tranquil and serene atmosphere, facing the water with its back to the mountain. The architecture of Diyuan Temple resembles a large palace, majestic and solemn. The main hall houses a statue of Śākyamuni Buddha, while the rear hall features a reclining Buddha carved from an entire camphor tree. The eaves and columns of the temple are adorned with exquisite paintings, creating a unique artistic style. The temple also includes an art museum and a stone art gallery to exhibit the Zen spirit of Buddhism. Outside the temple, there is a plaza with five hundred Arhats, carved from blue granite, each with distinct poses, faces, and expressions, appearing vivid and lifelike.
