Diyuan Temple Introduction
Diyuan Temple is located in Hongshui Keng, Liouguei District, near Caidi Valley and Laonong River. It is a branch of Yuanzhao Temple in Qiaosong and is ranked among the three major temples in Liouguei alongside Shenwei Tiantaishan and Miaochong Temple. Diyuan Temple primarily enshrines Shakyamuni Buddha and Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva, attracting numerous followers and maintaining a bustling incense offerings even on regular days. Surrounded by mountains, the temple, with its back against the hill and facing the water, appears tranquil and serene, standing apart from the mundane. The architecture of Diyuan Temple features a large palace style, exuding grandeur and majesty. The Main Hall houses the statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, while the rear hall displays a reclining Buddha carved from a whole camphor tree. The eaves and beams of the temple are adorned with exquisite paintings, creating a unique artistic style. The temple complex also includes an art museum and a stone arts gallery that showcase the Zen essence of Buddhism. In the square outside the temple, there are five hundred sculptures of arhats carved from green stone, each with distinct poses, features, and expressions, looking vividly lifelike.
