Ikedaya Introduction
Chikeda House is located at No. 30, Huannan Street, Liouguei District, Kaohsiung City. It was the former Liouguei Station of Kaohsiung Bus and originated as an inn operated by a Japanese named Ikeda Hyotaro, which is why it was named Chikeda House. It was later sold to Kaohsiung Bus to serve as the Liouguei Station, becoming a transit hub for the indigenous peoples in Liouguei District, Maolin District, and Taoyuan District. The structure of Chikeda House is in the shape of the letter "M," consisting of three one-story buildings. The current layout still reflects the original design of the building, with the interior furnishings and facilities preserved intact. It is a rare example of Japanese-style inn architecture, registered as a historical building in 2003. Through historical and cultural preservation, this old Japanese house has rekindled its stories, telling the world about its former glory. It is recommended to spend about 1 hour here, where you can take photos around the park and learn about its historical changes through the explanatory panels and old photographs on the walls.
