Ikeda-Ya Introduction
Chikeda House, located at No. 30 Huannan Street, Liugui District, Kaohsiung, was originally the Liugui Station of Kaohsiung Bus Company, operated by Japanese businessman Bintaro Ikeda, which is why it is named Chikeda House. It was later sold to Kaohsiung Bus Company to serve as the Liugui Station, acting as a transportation hub for the mountain residents of Liugui District, Maolin District, and Taoyuan District. The structure of Chikeda House is in the shape of a "M" and consists of three one-story buildings. The current layout still reflects the original design from when it was built, and the interior furnishings and equipment have been well preserved, making it a rare example of traditional Japanese lodging architecture. It was registered as a historic building in 2003, and through historical and cultural preservation, this old Japanese house has been able to tell its story and convey its former glory to the world. A suggested visit time is about one hour, allowing visitors to take photos in various parts of the park and learn about its historical changes through information boards and old photographs on the walls.
