Yongtian Arts·Kinmen Hotel Contemporary Art Museum Introduction
Kaohsiung Yongtian Art, Jinmen Pavilion Contemporary Art Museum is a rare surviving military building from the Cold War period in Taiwan. Completed in 1967 and vacated by the military in 1998, it became a historical landmark. In 2016, the Kaohsiung City Urban Development Bureau reopened bidding for the site, and the ALIEN Art team preserved it. After two years of renovation, it was officially opened as the ALIEN Art Centre on November 28, 2018. The once rigid military structure has transformed into a green building that harmonizes with nature, rich in geometric elements, intertwining stories from the past and present. The renovated pavilion retains classical strength while blending elegance with the contemporary. Today, the Yongtian Art Jinmen Pavilion Contemporary Art Museum offers memories, art, forest experiences, spatial interaction, and contemporary design. The hidden ALIEN All-Day Lounge on the second floor provides fresh organic light meals and coffee, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a comfortable atmosphere of inspiration. The museum focuses on presenting a new spiritual lifestyle of culture, art, fashion, and living, with an international perspective and standards, rediscovering and curating ongoing exhibitions. Temporary exhibitions follow a rotating schedule across the museum’s three floors, alongside permanent exhibitions. The second floor features a museum shop and the ALIEN All-Day Lounge café, where visitors can purchase art merchandise and books, making it an excellent place for meet-ups and catching up after exhibitions. The rooftop terrace can host music and performance events.
