Yongtian Art and Jinma Hotel Contemporary Art Museum Introduction
Kaohsiung Yongtian Art - Matsu Pavilion Contemporary Art Museum is a rare remnant of Cold War military architecture in Taiwan. Constructed in 1967, the Matsu Pavilion transitioned into history with the military's withdrawal in 1998. In 2016, the Kaohsiung Urban Development Bureau reopened bidding, and the ALIEN Art team took charge of preservation, spending two years to renovate it. On November 28, 2018, it was relaunched as the ALIEN Art Centre - Matsu Pavilion Art Museum. The former rigid military structure has been transformed into a green building that integrates with nature, enriched with geometric elements interwoven with stories from both the past and present. The renovated pavilion retains classical strength while blending elegance with contemporary design. Today, the Yongtian Art - Matsu Pavilion Contemporary Art Museum offers a blend of memory, art, forest, spatial experience, and contemporary design. Hidden on the second floor, the ALIEN All-Day Lounge provides fresh organic light meals and coffee, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a comfortable atmosphere filled with design and art inspiration. The museum focuses on presenting a new spirit of cultural, artistic, fashion, and lifestyle experiences, rediscovering and curating current exhibitions with an international perspective and standards. The special exhibition planning follows the three-story rotation of exhibits, in addition to permanent exhibitions. The second floor features a museum shop and the ALIEN All-Day Lounge café, where visitors can purchase art merchandise and books, making it a great place to meet and reminisce after viewing exhibits, while the rooftop terrace can host music and performance events.
