Yongtian Art and Golden Horse Hotel Contemporary Art Museum Introduction
Kaohsiung ALIEN Art Centre – Kinmen Guesthouse Contemporary Art Museum is the last surviving military building from the Cold War period in Taiwan. Built in 1967, it became a historical site after the military withdrew in 1998. In 2016, the Kaohsiung Urban Development Bureau reopened bids, and the ALIEN Art team preserved the site. After two years of renovations, it was reopened to the public on November 28, 2018, as the ALIEN Art Centre. The originally rigid military structure has been transformed into a green building that integrates with nature, rich with geometric elements and weaving stories from both the past and present. The renovated guesthouse retains classical strength while blending elegance with contemporary design. Today, the ALIEN Art Centre – Kinmen Guesthouse Contemporary Art Museum offers experiences of memory, art, forests, spatial experiences, and contemporary design. Hidden on the second floor, the ALIEN All-Day Lounge provides fresh organic light meals and coffee, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a comfortable atmosphere of inspiration among design and art. The museum focuses on presenting new spiritual lifestyles in culture, art, fashion, and ways of living, rediscovering and curating current exhibition activities with an international perspective and standards. The special exhibition plans follow a rotating schedule across the museum's three floors, along with permanent exhibitions. The second floor features a museum shop and the ALIEN All-Day Lounge café, where visitors can purchase art products and books, making it an excellent place for post-visit meetings and conversations. An open-air platform on the top floor can host music and performance events.
