Jiulong Great Banyan Tree Introduction
The Jiulong Banyan Tree is located in the TianTou Village of Zhutan Township, Changhua County, under the dyke of the Zhuoshui River, known as the mother river of Taiwan. Nurtured by the Zhuoshui River, a small banyan tree took root and grew here. After a century, it became the widest single tree in Taiwan, with a crown coverage area of over 3,000 ping, forming a typical "forest of one tree." Due to its gnarled branches and roots, the thick aerial roots sprout around the trunk like dragon claws, resembling a dragon soaring into the sky, hence the name "Jiulong." Before the construction of the Xiluo Bridge, it served as a landmark for villagers crossing the river to gather daily supplies. There is also a seat for the Three Saints established by the public under the tree for worship, where all wishes can be fulfilled.
