Henglu Ancient Trail - Bantian Bridge Introduction
The Henglu Ancient Trail was the only passage for early residents of Henglu to travel to the Xiaobantian village. Initially, it was built as an arch bridge using bamboo, but it was destroyed by the 1987 flood, which widened the riverbanks and made it impossible to rebuild the arch bridge. The following year, the government funded the construction of a cable suspension bridge, but it was also damaged by the immense force of Typhoon Tsuji, rendering it impassable. In 2007, the county government invested tens of millions of dollars to build a new suspension bridge, named Bantian Bridge, in conjunction with the Xiaobantian Leisure Agricultural Area, creating a new tourist route.
