Henglu Old Trail - Bantian Bridge Introduction
The Henglu Ancient Trail was the only passage for early residents of Henglu to travel to the Xiaobantian village. Initially, it was built with ramie bamboo as an arch bridge, but it was destroyed by the 1987 flood, which also widened the riverbanks, making it impossible to construct an arch bridge again. The following year, the government financed the construction of a cable suspension bridge, but it was still damaged by the immense power of Typhoon Taitung and became impassable. In 2007, the county government invested tens of millions of funds to build a new suspension bridge, named Bantian Bridge, which, combined with the Xiaobantian leisure agricultural area, became a new sightseeing route.
