My Home - Puppetry Cultural and Creative Park Introduction
Traditional national essence, delicately displayed. The Puppet Cultural and Creative Park, founded by the descendants of Master Hsu Yan-ching, who has a long history in carving puppet heads, collects famous glove puppet theater characters. Classic characters include: Shih Yen-wen, Su Huan-chen, and Hei Bai Lang-jun, among others, offering visitors a close-up view of the beauty and details of puppets. Glove puppet theater has deep roots in Taiwan for a century and is a representative aspect of local culture. The incredible performances of glove puppet theater are undoubtedly supported by the craftsmanship in carving the puppets. Master Hsu Yan-ching began his work in puppet carving in the 1950s and created many beloved glove puppet characters, including Shih Yen-wen, the Cangjing Ren, Hei Bai Lang-jun, Liu San, Guai Lao Zi, and Er Chi, who have gained immense popularity across Taiwan. Master Hsu’s descendants have inherited this craft, and it has now passed on to the third generation.
