The Wusheng Temple was originally built in the 23rd year of the Kangxi era (1684) to the right of the Penghu School Hall and was relocated to its current site in the first year of the Guangxu era, Yi Hai (1875). The worship of Guandi in Taiwan began with Zheng Chenggong, and the Guandi Temple in Tainan today was built by Zheng Chenggong. The largest Guandi Temple in Penghu is the current Wusheng Temple in Chaoyang Village.
