Penghu Ocean Geological Park Center Introduction

**Penghu Ocean Geopark Center** The Penghu Ocean Geopark Center is established by the Penghu County government for the purpose of geological education. It is located next to the Third Fishing Harbor, just a street away from the Magong City Hall. The center provides extensive information about the geological park, Penghu's nature reserves, and the distribution maps of the Cat Islet seabird protection area and the Qimei Stone Tool Factory, as well as geological timelines, geological parks from around the world, Taiwanese geological parks, a stone living theme, and distinctive landscapes of Penghu, including rich and detailed information on basalt. Although the internal space is not large, it is divided into 15 zones, including exhibits on "Penghu Basalt," "Penghu's Unique Landscapes," "Introduction to Basalt," "Penghu Geological Timeline," "Six Major Geological Parks of Penghu," "Penghu’s Natural and Seabird Protection Areas," "Qimei Stone Tool Factory," "Shared Global Assets," "Stone Living Theme," "Audio-Visual Room," "Library and Stone Crafts," and "Interactive Educational Activities." The center's exterior is primarily made of stone, designed in a traditional and Japanese style, making it a distinctive building. Inside, there are many areas dedicated to scientific education for children! **Rock Blue Cave VR Experience** To showcase the natural beauty of Penghu, the Penghu County government has built a mini Blue Cave VR experience theater within the Penghu Ocean Geopark Center. The exterior walls mimic basalt, and soft blue lighting on the floor creates the illusion of entering a mysterious blue cave. Visitors will sit in dynamic seats and wear VR goggles to experience a flight through the geological wonders of Penghu using 360-degree wide-angle photography, embarking on an adventure that cannot be achieved in real life. The mini Blue Cave VR experience theater currently offers two films for visitors, namely "Overlooking Penghu 360," an aerial film, and "Penghu Sea底360," an underwater film. Visitors can choose the film they wish to experience according to their preferences. **Experience Location:** Penghu Ocean Geopark Center (71 Xinming Road, Magong City) **Opening Hours for Experiences:** Mondays to Sundays, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM **Contact Phone:** 06-9269737 / 06-9269117 *To maintain the quality of the experience, all equipment will operate on a pre-reservation basis through online appointment. This aerial perspective allows viewers to fully appreciate the unique and breathtaking natural landscapes of the basalt formations in the Penghu archipelago. The film introduces many famous basalt attractions, such as the Blue Cave (also known as Zao Long) in the Southern Four Islands’ Xiji Islet, the double-heart stone weirs and Little Taiwan in Qimei, the area renowned as the underwater Yellowstone, the Moses divide between Kuibieshan and Chiyu, the beautiful sandy tail beach of Jibei, the Whale Cave of Xiaomen Islet, and the underwater coral reef ecosystem known as the Secret Forest. The total runtime is approximately 3 and a half minutes, filled with stunning visuals that compel viewers to visit in person. The beauty of the basalt landscapes deepens the impression of the basalt homeland, the Penghu archipelago, and enhances appreciation and affection for it. **[Penghu Sea底360]** "Penghu Sea底360" is an underwater film personally shot by renowned director Yuan Hsiu-Hu, who gained fame for his underwater photography film "East Longitude, North Latitude." This film employs 360-degree photography and 4K underwater filming techniques to capture the wonders beneath the sea around the Penghu archipelago. The film lasts 2 minutes and 30 seconds, showcasing famous underwater attractions, including the underwater mailbox, lock port, coral garden, Xiji Castle, lavender forest, Dongji Corridor, barracuda schools, and the underwater corridors between East and West Xiji. Apart from providing viewers with a nostalgic experience of the underwater scenes in the film "East Longitude, North Latitude," it also allows audiences to enjoy an array of colorful underwater landscapes. Additionally, given the director's concern for marine ecology, the film aims to raise viewers' awareness and attention towards the marine environment while showcasing the rich underwater ecology and beautiful ocean views. **Suggested Stay Time:** 2 hours
