Yangmingshan National Park - Lengshuikeng Introduction
Lengshuikeng Hot Springs is located in the valley on the eastern side between Qixing Mountain and Maphong Mountain (Chikou Mountain). Originally a standard fumarole, it has been eroded by natural factors and human cultivation, leaving only an indistinct depression shape. The main rocks in the area are tuff breccia and pyroxene amphibole andesite. Most of the rock near the spring has undergone hydrothermal alteration, resulting in clayey materials. The spring water bubbling from under Lengshuikeng is around 40 degrees Celsius, which is much lower than the water temperatures of other hot spring areas, hence its name. This place is also the only sedimentary sulfur deposit in Taiwan, with the spring water appearing milky white, earning it the nickname "Milk Pool." Lengshuikeng Hot Springs is formed by the indirect heating of groundwater and features two different types of spring water: neutral bicarbonate spring and weakly acidic sulfate spring. Nearby, the Jiansi Waterfall and Dream Lake Ecological Conservation Area are also popular attractions. In such a natural environment, one often encounters various wildlife, including the long-legged red frog, the bifid frog (known for its bird-like calls, scientifically referred to as Hylarana signata), as well as the warty toad and various snakes and reptiles. While considering safety, please also respect the environment and do not disturb them.
