Yangmingshan National Park - Lengshuikeng Introduction
Lengshuikeng Hot Springs is located in the valley east of Qixing Mountain and Mafeng Mountain (also known as Qigu Mountain). Originally a typical volcanic vent, it has been eroded by natural elements and human cultivation, leaving only an indistinct concave shape. The main rocks in the area are volcanic tuff breccia and pyroxene andesite. The rocks near the spring source are mostly altered by hydrothermal processes, becoming clayey. The water emerging from the depths of Lengshuikeng is approximately 40 degrees Celsius, which is much lower than the water temperatures of other hot spring areas, hence the name. This place is also the only sedimentary sulfur mine in Taiwan, with milky white spring water, thus referred to as the Milk Pond. The Lengshuikeng Hot Springs are formed through the indirect conduction heating of groundwater, featuring two different types of spring water: neutral bicarbonate springs and weakly acidic sulfate springs. Nearby, the Juansi Waterfall and Dream Lake Ecological Preserve are also popular attractions. In this natural environment, it is common to encounter friends from nature, such as Long-legged Red Frogs, Sharp-nosed Red Frogs (which have a call reminiscent of bird chirps known as the Elegant-Loach Red Frog), the Pangu Toad with numerous warts, as well as various snakes and reptiles. While considering safety, please also respect the environment and do not disturb them.
