Yangmingshan National Park - Lengshuikeng Introduction

The Lengshuikeng Hot Spring is located in the eastern valley between Qixing Mountain and Mafeng Mountain (also known as Qigu Mountain). It was originally a standard explosive vent but has been shaped by natural erosion and human cultivation, leaving only an inconspicuous depression. The main rock types here are tuffaceous breccia and hypersthene amphibole andesite. Most of the rocks near the hot spring source have been altered by hydrothermal processes, resulting in clay minerals. The spring water that bubbles up from the Lengshuikeng's underground is around 40 degrees Celsius, significantly lower than the water temperatures found in other hot spring areas, which is how it got its name. This is also the only sedimentary sulfur mineral deposit in Taiwan, with the spring water appearing milky white, thus earning the nickname "Milk Pond." The Lengshuikeng Hot Spring is a result of indirect heating of groundwater, featuring two different types of springs: neutral bicarbonate springs and weakly acidic sulfate springs. Nearby, the Juanshi Waterfall and the Dream Lake Ecological Reserve are also popular attractions. In this natural environment, you may often encounter friends from nature, including the Long-footed Red Frog, the Striped Red Frog (known for its bird-like calls), the Pangu Toad with its numerous tumors, as well as various snakes and reptiles. While considering safety, please also respect the environment and refrain from disturbing them.
