Yangmingshan National Park - Lengshuikeng Introduction
Lengshuikeng Hot Spring is located in the eastern valley between Qixing Mountain and Mafeng Mountain (Qigu Mountain). It was originally a standard hydrothermal vent that has been eroded by natural forces and human activities, leaving only an inconspicuous depression shape. The main rock types are ignimbrite and hypersthene-bearing diorite. Most of the rocks near the spring source have undergone hydrothermal alteration and are clayey. The spring water that gushes from the ground is about 40 degrees Celsius, which is much lower than the water temperatures of other hot spring areas, hence the name. This location is also home to Taiwan's only sedimentary sulfur deposit, and the water appears milky white, giving it the nickname "Milk Pool." The Lengshuikeng Hot Spring is formed by the indirect heating of groundwater, featuring both neutral bicarbonate springs and slightly acidic sulfate springs. Nearby, the Juansi Waterfall and Dream Lake Ecological Protection Area are also popular attractions. In such a natural environment, one often encounters various creatures, including long-legged tree frogs, the elegant Hsuen-Hao's tree frog (whose calls resemble bird songs), and the tumor-laden Pangu toad, along with some snakes and reptiles. While considering safety, please also respect the environment and do not disturb them.
