Yangming Park Introduction
Yangmingshan Park is located in the northern part of Taipei City, approximately 17 kilometers from the downtown area. During the Japanese occupation, the area was covered with reeds, which led to its original name, Caoshan (Grass Mountain). After Taiwan's retrocession, in 1950, the name was changed to Yangmingshan in honor of Wang Yangming, and the Yangmingshan National Park Administration was established to develop Yangmingshan Park. The park, which covers an area of about 107 hectares, was transferred to the management of the Park Lighting Engineering Office after the administration was restructured in 1977. This park, part of the Datun Mountain Range, has an elevation of 445 meters. It is bordered by Qixing Mountain to the rear, Shamao Mountain to the left, and Datun Mountain to the right, with a distant view of Guanyin Mountain’s layered peaks. The climate is warm and humid, with cool summers, making it an excellent summer retreat. It is also the only place in Taiwan that features a dead volcanic landscape, sulfur vents, and natural hot springs. The park is filled with various flowers, including plum, cherry, peach, apricot, rhododendron, and camellia. Every spring, the blooming cherry blossoms attract many visitors to the mountains for flower viewing, along with a flower clock made from various seasonal flowers. If you visit, don't forget to take a photo with the flower clock, which is a symbol of Yangmingshan. At Yangmingshan Park, you can enjoy flower viewing in spring, seek refuge from the heat in summer, admire the grass flowers and maple leaves in autumn, and soak in hot springs in winter. The different seasonal beauty and pleasures of Yangmingshan await your discovery!
