Yangming Park Introduction

Yangmingshan Park is located in the northern part of Taipei City, approximately 17 kilometers from the city center. During the Japanese colonial era, this area was covered with grass, thus it was called Caoshan (Grass Mountain). After Taiwan's retrocession, in 1950, the name was changed to Yangmingshan in honor of Wang Yangming, and a management bureau was established to develop Yangmingshan Park. The park, with an area of about 107 hectares, was managed by the Yangmingshan National Park Administration until it was restructured in 1977, and the park's operations were handed over to the Engineering Office of Parks and Street Lights. This park, which belongs to the Datun Mountain range, has an elevation of 445 meters, with Qixing Mountain to the rear, Shamao Mountain to the left, and Datun Mountain to the right, while the distant Guanyin Mountain presents a picturesque landscape. The climate is warm and humid, with cool summers, making it an excellent summer retreat. It is also the only place in Taiwan with a landscape featuring extinct volcanoes, sulfur vents, and natural hot springs. The park is filled with various flowers such as plum, cherry, peach, apricot, azalea, and camellia. Every spring, when the cherry blossoms bloom, many people are drawn to the mountains to enjoy the flowers. Additionally, there is a flower clock made up of various seasonal flowers; if you visit, don’t forget to take a photo with this iconic flower clock of Yangmingshan. In Yangmingshan Park, you can enjoy flower viewing in spring, escape the heat in summer, admire pampas grass and maple leaves in autumn, and soak in hot springs in winter. The beautiful and diverse scenery and activities of Yangmingshan throughout the four seasons await your discovery!
