Yangming Villa Introduction

Originally named Zhongxing Guest House, "Yangming Shuwu" was constructed between 1969 and 1970. It served as a place for former President Chiang Kai-shek to receive domestic and foreign dignitaries and as a summer retreat. It is the only residence that he personally selected for construction in Taiwan. Today, it has become an important cultural heritage site and environmental education area within Yangmingshan National Park, providing visitors with consulting and guided tour services. It is a place that combines nature and culture, intellect and emotion for recreation and visits. Yangming Shuwu is located on Zhongxing Road, covering an area of approximately 15 hectares. Originally, it was a natural forest and was part of the forest park managed by the Yangmingshan Administration, and it used to serve as a camping area for the scout association. After the completion of Zhongxing Guest House and its ancillary buildings in 1970, part of the forest area was retained. In 1979, the Central Historical Committee of the Kuomintang moved its office here and centralized historical materials from Nantou Caotun and Qingtan, along with information from the Daxi Information Room and Zhishan Library's "Presidential Historical Materials," to facilitate research for scholars from both domestic and foreign backgrounds. Thus, Zhongxing Guest House was renamed "Yangming Shuwu." On September 26, 1997, the Kuomintang donated the above-ground buildings and management rights of Yangming Shuwu to the Ministry of the Interior to be operated by the department, establishing the Yangming Shuwu Management Station, which officially opened to the public on June 27, 1998, offering recreational consulting, guided tours of Zhongxing Guest House, film viewing, model displays, and other services.
