Yang Ming Shuwu Introduction
Originally named the Zhongxing Villa, "Yangmingshu House" was built between 1969 and 1970. It was previously a place for former President Chiang Kai-shek to host distinguished domestic and foreign guests and to escape the summer heat. This was the only guesthouse he personally selected to be built in Taiwan. Today, it has become an important cultural and historical site within Yangmingshan National Park, offering various services, including visitor consultation and guided tours, making it a recreational site that integrates nature and culture, intellect and emotion. The Yangmingshu House is located on Zhongxing Road, covering an area of approximately 15 hectares, and was originally a natural forest under the jurisdiction of the Yangmingshan National Park, which had once been a camping area for the Boy Scouts. After the completion of the Zhongxing Villa and its affiliated buildings in 1970, parts of the forest area were preserved. In 1979, the Central History Committee of the Kuomintang moved its office here and consolidated historical materials from Nantou Caotun and Qingtan, along with materials from Daxi Library and Zhishan House for convenient access by domestic and international scholars. Since then, the Zhongxing Villa has been renamed "Yangmingshu House." On September 26, 1997, the Kuomintang donated the above-ground building and management rights of the Yangmingshu House to the Ministry of the Interior, which then established the Yangmingshu House Management Station, officially opening to the public on June 27, 1998, offering services such as visitor consultation, guided tours of the Zhongxing Villa, video screenings, and model exhibitions.
