Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area Introduction
For those who love maple leaves, there's no need to travel far to Canada or Japan; the nearby "Taipei Awanda" will provide you with beautiful visual enjoyment. Here, you can enjoy the scenery of red maples without waiting for the autumn and winter seasons. In spring, from March to April, you can admire the full garden of red maples. The park features various plant species, including pines, cherries, cypress, maples, and camellias, all cultivated from seedlings, resulting in unique shapes. Among them, black pines and maples are the most common and represent the essence of Taipei Awanda. General visitors are most impressed by the annual maple leaves. Typically, the maple viewing season is in autumn and winter, and one has to wait for cold fronts to see the red leaves. However, Taipei Awanda not only has red maples in autumn and winter, but the best season for viewing them is from March to April. This is mainly because the maples at Taipei Awanda are grafted varieties from Japan. Due to the characteristics of these varieties, there is a period of over a month when the new buds are red, which then gradually turn green as temperatures rise and rainfall increases, resulting in changing chlorophyll. Additionally, there are multiple varieties with different colors. (Source: Taipei Awanda Facebook)
