Shunyi Museum of Indigenous Culture Introduction
The Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines is the first private museum in Taiwan dedicated to indigenous peoples. When passing by, it is hard to miss its unique architectural design—a steady gray trapezoidal building adorned with colorful stained glass windows, featuring a stone pillar in the center engraved with indigenous totems, exuding an air of mystery that seems to summon visitors to step into the fascinating world of Taiwan's indigenous cultures. The museum's collection encompasses four themes, detailing the distribution of various indigenous groups in Taiwan, as well as introductions to traditional daily life objects such as architecture, crafts, and hunting tools, alongside the beautiful traditional costumes of each group and their crucial ancestral beliefs. The museum also periodically holds various related activities and courses, allowing the public to experience indigenous culture in a lively and relaxed manner, appreciating their reverence for ancestors and their wisdom of coexisting with nature.
