Wang Da-Hong Architectural Theater Introduction
Wang Da-Hong Architectural Theater was originally located in the alley of Jianguo South Road, which was the residence of architect Wang Da-Hong and has since been demolished. In 2017, it was reconstructed by the "Wang Da-Hong Architectural Research and Preservation Association" at the art park south of Taipei Fine Arts Museum and donated to the Taipei City Government for research and educational promotion. In 2018, Taipei Fine Arts Museum began operating in the form of the "Wang Da-Hong Architectural Theater," aiming to serve as a key base for the audience to learn about Wang Da-Hong and his residence, and to become a performance experimental platform for promoting Taiwan’s architectural history and introducing architectural aesthetics. The "Wang Da-Hong Architectural Theater," initiated by the North Museum, incorporates both "architecture" and "theater," which can be interpreted as "architecture (itself as a performance of life) theater," or as "building (a) theater." Here, "theater" differs from the conventional understanding of a physical space with a stage, seats, actors, and audience; conceptually, it is closer to constructing a space different from the real world, allowing the audience to enter and experience personally, thus building their unique viewing experience. The Wang Da-Hong Studio DH Café, located next to the "Wang Da-Hong Architectural Theater," is a mixed-use cultural space that offers selected architecture and art publications, light meals, and coffee, combined with mini-exhibitions and themed salon lectures, hoping to recreate the elegance and professionalism of an architect's study, with a rich scene of cultural gathering and flowing thoughts in the halls of the residence.
