Citong Tianyao Temple Introduction
The ruins of the former Prince Kitashirakawa, now known as the Tianyao Palace, are a significant site for the faith in Citong, which primarily worships Mazu, commonly referred to as Citong Alley Mazu. It serves as the spiritual center of Citong. During the Japanese occupation, the original temple was demolished by the Japanese, and a monument called "Kitashirakawa Palace Relics Stele" was established at the site to commemorate Prince Kitashirakawa Kanetaka, who camped in Citong Alley in 1895 during the military campaign against Taiwan.
