The former Prince Kitashirakawa Ruins, now the significant religious site Tianyao Temple that worships Mazu, commonly known as Mazu of Citong Alley, serves as the center of faith in Citong City. During the Japanese colonial period, this temple was destroyed by the Japanese, and a "Kitashirakawa Palace Ruins Monument" was established on the original site to commemorate Prince Kitashirakawa's military encampment in Citong Alley in 1895.

Citou Tianyao Temple Introduction

The original site of Prince Kitashirakawa, now a significant place of worship for the Matsu deity at Tianyao Temple, commonly known as Matsu of Citong. It serves as the center of faith in Citong urban area. During the Japanese colonial period, the original temple was demolished by the Japanese, and a memorial stone called "Kitashirakawa Palace Site Monument" was erected at the original site to commemorate the presence of Prince Kitashirakawa Kunihisa, who camped in Citong in 1895 during the military expedition against Taiwan.
