Zhongxing Village, Changhua Introduction
Jungle of Dreams: Blossoming Zhongxing Village Established in 1950, Zhongxing Village, located at the foot of Ba Gua Mountain, primarily housed the families of soldiers from General Gao Fangxian's former troop based in Qingdao, Shandong. They migrated from Qingdao to Taiwan, took root in Zhongxing Village, and endured the years of war while passing down a resilient national spirit. To preserve this glorious history, the Changhua County Government has been dedicated to promoting cultural heritage. Since 2009, they have initiated research into Zhongxing Village's historical trajectory. In 2010, Zhongxing Village was successfully registered as a historical building in Changhua County, making it the only well-preserved military dependents' village in Changhua. In 2012, it was designated by the Ministry of National Defense as a cultural preservation area for military dependents' villages. In 2021, the registration was revised to that of a settlement architecture group. After the completion of the first phase of plaza and environmental renovation in October 2022, the Changhua County Cultural Affairs Bureau activated the site through a public-benefit rental model, providing six units across four buildings as entrepreneurial spaces for youth. Official operations began in January 2023, integrating surrounding landscapes and local industry features to present a fresh appearance to local residents and visitors. It is anticipated that the second phase of the comprehensive restoration project will be completed by 2025, with hopes of continuing the historical legacy of the military dependents' village and reviving the essence of Changhua.
