Zhongxing Village, Changhua Introduction
Dreaming of Reunions - The Blooming Zhongxing Village Established in 1950, Zhongxing Village lies at the foot of Bagua Mountain. The first generation of residents were mostly soldiers and their families from General Gao Fangxian's elite unit based in Qingdao, Shandong. They migrated all the way from Qingdao, Shandong, to Taiwan, where they put down roots in Zhongxing Village, enduring turbulent times while passing on the indomitable spirit of their nation. In order to preserve this glorious history, the Changhua County Government has been committed to promoting cultural assets. Starting in 2009, it began researching the historical trajectory of Zhongxing Village. In 2010, Zhongxing Village was successfully registered as a historic building in Changhua County, making it the only completely preserved military dependents' village in Changhua. In 2012, it was designated by the Ministry of National Defense as a cultural preservation area, and in 2021, it was re-listed as a settlement architectural group. After the first phase of plaza and environmental renovation was completed in October 2022, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Changhua County activated the area by providing four buildings containing six units for youth entrepreneurship through a public welfare leasing model. It officially opened and began operations in January 2023, combining the surrounding landscape and local industry characteristics to present a new look to local residents and visitors. The second phase of comprehensive restoration work is expected to be completed by 2025, with hopes to continue the historical legacy of the military dependents' village and recreate the unique flavor of Changhua.
