Zhongxing Village, Changhua Introduction
Chung Hsing Village: A Dream Built and Blossoming Established in 1950, Chung Hsing Village is located at the foot of Bagua Mountain. The first generation of residents were mostly soldiers and their families from General Gao Fangxian's troops stationed in Shandong, Qindao, who relocated to Taiwan from Shandong, Qindao, to settle in Chung Hsing Village. They endured the hardships of war and passed down a resilient national spirit. To preserve this illustrious history, the Changhua County Government has dedicated efforts to promote cultural heritage. Since 2009, they have been researching the historical trajectory of Chung Hsing Village. In 2010, Chung Hsing Village was successfully registered as a historical building in Changhua County, making it the only fully preserved military dependents' village in Changhua. In 2012, it was designated by the Ministry of National Defense as a cultural preservation area for military dependents' villages. In 2021, its registration was amended to a settlement building cluster. After completing the first phase of the plaza and environmental improvement project in October 2022, the Changhua County Cultural Affairs Bureau revitalized it through a public benefit leasing model, providing four buildings with six units for youth entrepreneurial spaces. Official operations began in January 2023, integrating the surrounding landscape and local industry characteristics, presenting a new appearance to local residents and visitors. The second phase of the comprehensive restoration project is expected to be completed by 2025, with hopes for the history of the military dependents' village to continue and to showcase the flavors of Changhua.
