Zhongxing Village, Changhua Introduction
Chung Hsing Village, Dream Building and Blossoming, was established in 1950 and is located at the foot of Bagua Mountain. The first generation of residents were mainly soldiers and their families from General Gao Fangxian of the Shandong Qindao Protection Army who moved from Shandong Qindao to Taiwan, settling down in Chung Hsing Village. They lived through tumultuous times and passed down the strong and unyielding national spirit. The Changhua County Government has made efforts to preserve this glorious history and promote cultural heritage. Starting from 2009, research on the historical trajectory of Chung Hsing Village has been conducted. In 2010, Chung Hsing Village was successfully registered as a historical building in Changhua County, becoming the only fully preserved military dependents' village in Changhua. In 2012, it was designated by the Ministry of National Defense as a cultural preservation area for military dependents' villages, and in 2021, it was reclassified as a settlement building complex. After the completion of the first phase of plaza and environmental improvement projects in October 2022, the Changhua County Cultural Affairs Bureau revitalized the area through a public welfare rental model, providing six units in four buildings as entrepreneurial spaces for youth. The official opening and operation began in January 2023, showcasing its new appearance combined with the surrounding landscape and local industrial characteristics, and meeting local residents and visitors. The second phase of comprehensive restoration is expected to be completed by 2025, with hopes to continue the historical flow of the military dependents' village and to recreate the unique flavors of Changhua.
