1895 Baguashan Anti-Japanese Resistance Museum Introduction
In memory of the fierce battles of the "Battle of Bajia Mountain" in 1895, where the people of Taiwan resisted the Japanese army, the Changhua County Government has specially designated the Bajia Mountain Big Buddha Scenic Area with a new recreational theme centered on war historical sites. Through small exhibits, the project aims to awaken the memories of the Bajia Mountain historical battles. It repurposes the landscape of the park and the long-abandoned air raid shelters to revitalize these spaces. The exhibition hall is divided into sections that explain the First Sino-Japanese War, the Second Sino-Japanese War, and the Bajia Mountain Campaign, presented through panels and audiovisual displays. Coupled with the unique spatial experience within the tunnels, visitors can sense the tension and oppression during wartime, enhancing the immersive experience of their visit. People can enter the air raid shelters to experience the refuge during wartime and feel the tense atmosphere when Japanese troops crossed the creek in the quiet night. This thought-provoking experience allows reflection on the meaning and consequences of war. The exhibition hall is located behind the Changhua County Library.
