1895 Baguashan Anti-Japanese Resistance Museum Introduction
In memory of the fierce battle during the 1895 "Battle of Baguashan" where the people of Taiwan resisted the Japanese army, the Changhua County Government has specially developed a new recreational theme for the Baguashan Buddha Scenic Area based on the concept of a war history site. Through small-space exhibitions, it aims to awaken the memory of the historical battles at Baguashan. Utilizing the landscaped area of the park and the previously closed air raid shelters, these spaces have been transformed and revitalized for reuse. The exhibition hall is divided into sections that explain the First Sino-Japanese War, the 1895 War, and the Battle of Baguashan, presented through display boards and multimedia. The unique spatial experience within the tunnels enhances the feeling of tension and oppression during wartime, adding to the immersive experience of visiting. Visitors can enter the air raid shelter to feel the refuge from conflict and can personally experience the tense atmosphere of the Japanese army crossing the creek silently at night, prompting reflection on the meaning and consequences of war. The exhibition hall is located behind the "Changhua County Library."
