1895 Baguashan Anti-Japanese Preservation Museum Introduction
In memory of the 1895 Battle of Bagua Mountain where the people of Taiwan resisted the Japanese army, the Changhua County Government has specially created a new recreational theme at the Bagua Mountain Buddha Scenic Area based on the concept of a war history site. Through small exhibitions, it aims to awaken the memories of the historical battles at Bagua Mountain. The project involves transforming and revitalizing vacant spaces, including the long-closed air raid shelter, to enhance the landscape of the area. The exhibition hall is divided into sections that explain the Sino-Japanese War, the Taiwan Uprising, and the Battle of Bagua Mountain, using display panels and audio-visual methods. The unique spatial experience inside the tunnels enhances the atmosphere of tension and oppression during the war, enriching the on-site experience for visitors. People can enter the air raid shelter to feel the scenario of seeking refuge amidst conflict and directly experience the tense atmosphere of the Japanese army crossing the stream under the cover of dark nights. This allows for deep reflection on the meaning and consequences of war. The exhibition hall is located behind the Changhua County Library.
