Taipei Bridge Introduction

Completed in August 1889 by the first Governor-General of Taiwan, Liu Ming-Chuan, it connects Sanchongpu (now Sanchong District) with Dadaocheng Wharf in Taipei. In 1895, the bridge was referred to as the Tamsui Bridge and served as an important transshipment port in the Dalongdong and Dadaocheng areas at that time. On February 27, 1947, the Tianma Teahouse incident involving illicit tobacco took place, leading to a protest march that began at the current head of the Taipei Bridge on February 28.
