Taipei Bridge Introduction
In August 1889, the first Taiwan Governor Liu Ming-chuan completed the construction of the bridge, connecting San Chong Pu (now San Chong District) with the Dadaocheng Wharf in Taipei. In 1895, the bridge was named Tamsui Bridge, and at that time, it was an important transshipment port in the Dalongdong and Dadaocheng areas. On February 27, 1947, the Tian Ma Teahouse incident regarding smuggled tobacco occurred, and the next day, February 28, a protest march started from the current site of the Taipei Grand Bridge.
