Taipei Bridge Introduction

Completed in August 1889 by the first Taiwan governor Liu Ming-chuan, it connects San Chong Pu (now San Chong District) with Taipei Dadaocheng Wharf. In 1895, the bridge was named Tamsui Bridge, and at that time it served as an important transit port for the Dalongdong and Dadaocheng areas. The Tianma Teahouse smuggling incident occurred on February 27, 1947, and the following day, February 28, protests were initiated, gathering and departing from the current Taipei Bridge.
