Taipei Elementary School Introduction

Originally established in 1898 as Dadaocheng Public School, it was divided into two campuses in 1909 due to the construction of Taiping Town Road (now Yanping North Road). The eastern campus became Dadaocheng No. 1 Public School (now Taiping Elementary School), while the western campus is the current Yongle Elementary School. Taiping Elementary School has many notable alumni, including artists Huang Tushui and Yang Sanlang, as well as the renowned entrepreneur Gu Zhenfu. After the outbreak of the February 28 Incident in 1947, Taiping Elementary School was used as a detention center for arrested individuals.
