Shiti Beach Introduction
Shitiping features a unique rocky coastline shaped by wind and sea, with rich natural ecological resources in the intertidal zone: crabs, starfish, sea cucumbers, hermit crabs, and colorful fish, waiting for keen observers to explore their mysteries. At night, campers can set up at the Shitiping camping area above the wave-cut platform, welcoming the beautiful dawn the next day, watching the morning sunlight break through the clouds and illuminate the sea with a dazzling golden hue. The world-class outdoor geological classroom, Shitiping, is located at the southern end of Shitiping Bay in Fengbin Township, Hualien County. The entire area boasts a vast coastal terrace with highly developed wave-cut topography, featuring wave-cut platforms, uplifted coral reefs, wave-cut gullies, and wave-cut cliffs, with the blowhole landscape being renowned as the best in Taiwan. The Shitiping coastline is home to rich coral reefs and tropical fish. The tidal pools formed by the blowholes support various marine life, including algae, fish, shrimp, and shellfish, making Shitiping an excellent place to observe the abundant intertidal ecology as well as for diving and shore fishing. Visitors can explore along the circular trails in the scenic area or climb the 17-meter high Dan Mountain to enjoy the geological scenery of Shitiping and the majestic views of the Pacific Ocean. As a vibrant harbor, Shitiping is also the birthplace of whale watching in Taiwan, where fishing boats bring fresh catches ashore daily. Every summer, whales and dolphins appear offshore, attracting tourists to board whale watching boats to chase their graceful figures. Don't miss the opportunity to embark on an ecological whale watching journey!
