Tugong Fishing Port Introduction
Fugang, formerly known as "Monkey," was the first landing point for the indigenous people of the East Coast traveling from Green Island. From here, they migrated along the coastline, and some remnants of their settlements still exist in the nearby area. The local indigenous population still resides on the higher terraces southwest of the current port area. After the construction of Fugang Fishing Port, some residents moved to the western terraces near the fishermen's area, forming what was once the new village of Fugang, which is predominantly inhabited by Han Chinese. Residents who rely on nearby agriculture typically live along the streetfront.
