Fugang Fishing Port Introduction
Tugang, formerly known as "Monkey," was the first landing point for the early indigenous peoples of the east coast who arrived from Green Island. From here, they migrated along the coastline, leaving behind some remnants nearby. The local indigenous community still resides on the higher terraces on the southwest side of the current harbor area. After the construction of the Fugang Fishing Port, some residents relocated to the terraces on the western side of the nearby fishing village, which was formerly known as Fugang New Village, primarily inhabited by Han Chinese. Residents who relied on nearby agriculture lived along the streets.
