Longmen Village Stone Pagoda Introduction
Appearance of Shigantang: Stele-type Shigantang Inscription: Symbol Total Height: 4.34 m Circumference: 31.2 m Construction form: Conical shape Tower top ornament: Calabash The Shigantang is located at the back of Longmen Bay Beach, surrounded by Dongbitou and Longgang Mountain, creating a hollow in the landscape. This geographical environment seems to cause waves to crash directly into the village, bringing bad energy and adversely affecting the residents. Therefore, a tower was built to control the water and collect harmful energy. According to tradition, during its establishment, live chickens were used for sacrifice and placed at the base of the tower. At that time, the top of the stone tower was not adorned, allowing a direct view to the base. The older generation of villagers recalls that when they were young, they would play near the stone tower, always curious to see if there really was something inside through the tower's crevices, which was quite entertaining. Moreover, the eight feet extending from the base of the tower symbolize guarding the area from all directions, thus it is also known as the "Bagua Tower."
