Rizhao Cape Japanese Invasion Memorial Introduction
The Rizeang Corner Monument commemorating the Japanese military landing is currently the earliest monument in Taiwan related to the Japanese invasion. During the First Sino-Japanese War, Taiwan was defeated by Japan, and at the time of signing the Treaty of Shimonoseki, Japanese General Kuroda was the first to lead twelve ships to land in LinTou. After being counterattacked by the Gongbei Battery, four ships were redeployed to launch an attack in the Rizeang sea off Longmen Harbor to cover the landing of the "Combined Brigade" soldiers. After Japan occupied Penghu, a monument was erected at Rizeang Corner in Longmen to commemorate this event, making it the oldest monument in Taiwan related to the Japanese invasion. The main body of the monument can be divided into three sections, but now only the upper part remains. Later, a base was added, and the monument is square in shape, about one meter on each side and approximately two meters high, constructed of granite. In 1945, after Japan's defeat, the monument site was converted into a Land Temple, and the inscription was changed to the Memorial Monument for Taiwan's Restoration. 【Recommended Stay Duration】 0.5 hours
