Lijin Cape Japanese Invasion Memorial Stone Introduction
The Iritsu Corner Japanese Army Landing Memorial is currently the earliest memorial in Taiwan related to the Japanese military's invasion. During the First Sino-Japanese War, Taiwan was defeated by Japan, and at the time of signing the Treaty of Shimonoseki, the Japanese army, led by Admiral Ito, launched the first wave with twelve ships landing in LinTou. They were met with resistance from the Gongbei Battery, so they redirected four ships to launch an attack in the Iritsu Corner waters of Longmen to cover the landing of the "Mixed Brigade" troops. After Japan occupied Penghu, a monument was erected in Iritsu Corner, Longmen, commemorating this event, making it the earliest memorial related to the Japanese invasion of Taiwan. The main body of the monument can be divided into three segments; currently, only the upper part remains. Later, a pedestal was added, and the structure is square in shape, approximately one meter on each side, and about two meters high, constructed from granite. After the defeat of the Japanese Army in 1945, the Nationalist Government took over, and the location of the monument was converted into a Land Temple, with the inscription changed to "Taiwan Restoration Memorial." 【Recommended duration of stay】 0.5 hours
