Rizhengjiao Japanese Landing Memorial碑 Introduction
The Lizejiao Japanese Invasion Memorial is currently the earliest monument related to the Japanese military's invasion of Taiwan. During the First Sino-Japanese War, our country was defeated by Japan, and at the time of signing the Treaty of Shimonoseki, Major General Itō Hirobumi led the first wave of twelve ships landing at Lizejiao, which was met with counterfire from the Gongbei Battery. Therefore, four ships were redirected to launch an attack in the Lizejiao waters of Longmen Harbor to cover the landing of the "Composite Brigade" soldiers. After Japan occupied Penghu, a monument was erected at Lizejiao in Longmen to commemorate the event, making it the earliest monument related to the Japanese invasion of Taiwan. The main body of the monument can be roughly divided into three parts, but only the upper part remains today. A foundation was added later, and the base is square-shaped, approximately one meter on each side, and about two meters tall, constructed of granite. After the defeat of the Japanese army in 1945, when the National Government took over, the site where the monument stood was turned into a civil temple, and the inscription was changed to "Taiwan Restoration Memorial." 【Recommended Visit Duration】 0.5 hours
