Rizhengjiao Japanese Landing Memorial碑 Introduction
The Rizhengtou Japanese Army Landing Memorial is currently the earliest monument in Taiwan related to the Japanese invasion. During the First Sino-Japanese War, Taiwan was defeated by Japan, and at the time of the signing of the Treaty of Shimonoseki, General Ito led the first wave of twelve ships to land at Lintou, which was counterattacked by the Gongbei Battery. Therefore, four ships were redirected to launch an attack in the Rizhengtou waters at Longmen Port to cover the landing of the "Composite Brigade" personnel. After Japan occupied the Penghu Islands, a monument was erected at Rizhengtou in Longmen to commemorate this event, making it the earliest monument related to the Japanese invasion in Taiwan. The main body of the monument can be divided into three sections, but only the upper part remains today. Later, a base was added; the base is square-shaped, about one meter on each side, and approximately two meters high, constructed from granite. In 1945, after the Japanese defeat and the Republic of China took control, the location where the monument was erected became a land temple, and the inscription was changed to "Taiwan Restoration Memorial." 【Recommended Stay Time】 0.5 hours
