Luzon Point Japanese Landing Memorial Introduction
The Japanese Landing Memorial at Lizhengjiao is currently the earliest monument in Taiwan related to the Japanese invasion. During the First Sino-Japanese War, Taiwan was defeated by Japan, and at the time of the signing of the Treaty of Shimonoseki, General Ito led the first wave with twelve ships landing at Lintou, which were counterattacked by the Gongbei Battery. Therefore, four ships were redirected to launch an attack in the waters of Lizhengjiao at Longmen Harbor to cover the landing of the Mixed Brigade. After Japan occupied Penghu, a monument was erected at Longmen Lizhengjiao to commemorate this event, making it the earliest monument in Taiwan related to the Japanese invasion. The main body of the monument can be divided into three sections; currently, only the upper part remains. Later, a base was added, and the plane is square, approximately one meter on each side and about two meters high, constructed of granite. After the defeat of the Japanese army in 1945, and following the Nationalist government’s takeover, the site where the monument stood was converted into a land temple, and the inscription was changed to the Taiwan Restoration Memorial Monument. 【Recommended duration of stay】 0.5 hours
