Longmen Blockhouse Introduction

The Longmen Fortification is divided into two main areas: the external area, which includes landscape facilities such as a market, restrooms, a visitor service center, and a parking lot; and the internal area, which is the Lizejiao Fortification. Due to its military value, defensive structures were built around this location during the late Japanese colonial period. In 1961, the Army 1357th Brigade, under the direction of President Chiang, constructed the "Lizejiao Fortification." Upon completion, it included 2 anti-aircraft gun emplacements, 7 machine gun posts, 1 observation station, 2 personnel shelters, 1 ammunition shelter, and 1 water storage tank, connected by a 705-meter-long covered trench. Additionally, there is a 310-meter long anti-tank trench on the east side. Over time, modifications were made to meet usage demands; the original observation post was expanded to the rear around 1989, and a radar station was added above in 1991. This fortification witnesses the military defense history of Penghu, and visitors can experience the unique atmosphere of being inside the defensive structures.
