Longmen Fortress Introduction
Longmen Closed Position is designed broadly into two areas. The external area is a landscape facility park, mainly including market shops, public restrooms, a visitor service center, and a parking lot. The internal area is the Lizejiao Closed Position; this location has military value, and during the late Japanese occupation, defense works were constructed around it. In 1961, the Army 1357th Unit built the "Lizejiao Closed Position" following orders from President Chiang. Upon completion, it included two anti-aircraft gun forts, seven machine gun bunkers, one observation post, two personnel shelters, one ammunition shelter, and one water reservoir, connected by a 705-meter-long covered trench, with an additional 310-meter-long anti-tank ditch on the east side. Subsequently, renovations were made to meet usage demands; the original observation post was expanded backward around 1989, and a radar station was built above it in 1991. This closed position testifies to the military defense history of Penghu, allowing travelers to experience the unique atmosphere of being in a defensive fortification.
