Longmen Commercial Port Introduction
On April 28, 2017, the round-trip ferry route between Longmen in Penghu and Budai in Chiayi officially commenced operation, covering a distance of 28 nautical miles with a total journey time of about 55 minutes. This service has bridged the gap between Taiwan and Penghu, reducing the travel time by nearly 30 minutes compared to the existing Magong-Budai route. The waiting room at Longmen Harbor, located in the Longmen Jianshan Wharf area, is designed in an avant-garde industrial style using a bright red shipping container, created by the team from the Kaohsiung Pier-2 Art Center. The image of the container emerging from the ground symbolizes the rebirth of Longmen Harbor, welcoming a new dual-directional journey. Due to the terrain being shielded by highlands on both sides, Longmen Jianshan Wharf is considered an excellent harbor, and it was designated as a passenger terminal in 1997, allowing fishing boats and cargo vessels to enter and exit the port. In April 2013, the one-way route from Budai to Longmen in Penghu was launched, and Longmen Jianshan Wharf opened as a multi-purpose port for both passengers and cargo, achieving satisfactory passenger volume results. Therefore, in 2017, with joint efforts from the central and local governments, the Longmen-Budai round-trip route was opened, adding a new blue highway route that not only increases passenger traffic for Penghu tourism but also positively impacts the development of the port area industries. This new route connects various tourist attractions around Chiayi's Budai and Penghu's Longmen, such as the High Heels Church and the National Palace Museum Southern Branch in Chiayi, as well as renowned sites near Longmen in Penghu including Aimen Beach, Lintou Park, the Longmen Underground Tunnel, Longmen Li Zhengjiao Bay, Guoye Sunrise, Nanjiao Settlement, and Kuibishan Moses' Crossing. The new round-trip route creates an entirely new blue highway travel itinerary. 【Recommended stay time】 0.5 hours
