Longmen Commercial Port Introduction
On April 28, 2017, the ferry route between Longmen in Penghu and Budai in Chiayi officially commenced, covering a distance of 28 nautical miles and taking approximately 55 minutes. This new route has reduced the travel time by nearly 30 minutes compared to the existing Magong-Budai route, bringing Taiwan and Penghu closer together. Located at Longmen Qianshan Pier in Penghu, the waiting area at Longmen Commercial Port is designed as a bold red shipping container, showcasing an avant-garde industrial style created by the Kaohsiung Pier-2 Art Center team. The imagery of the container breaking free from the ground symbolizes the rebirth of Longmen Port and welcomes a brand new dual-direction journey. The Qianshan Pier area is sheltered by high terrain on both sides, effectively preventing the northeast monsoon, making it an excellent harbor. As a result, it was planned as a passenger terminal in 1997 to accommodate fishing boats and cargo vessels. In April 2013, the one-way route from Budai in Chiayi to Longmen in Penghu was launched, and Qianshan Pier was opened as a dual-use port for both passengers and cargo, achieving good passenger volume results. Thus, in 2017, through the joint efforts of the central and local governments, the Longmen-Budai round-trip route was established, increasing this new maritime highway, which not only enhanced tourist volume in Penghu but also contributed to the development of industries in the port area. Additionally, it connects various tourist attractions around Budai in Chiayi and Longmen in Penghu, such as the High Heels Church and the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum in Chiayi, as well as famous sites near Longmen in Penghu like Aimen Beach, Lintou Park, the Longmen Underground Tunnel, Longmen Li Zhengjiao Bay, Guoye Sunrise, Nanzhong Settlement, and Kuibishan Moses Split Sea. The new round-trip route creates a brand new blue highway travel itinerary. 【Recommended stay time】 0.5 hours
