Wang-an Green Sea Turtle Conservation Center Introduction
Nearby Tanmen Port, a building resembling a sea turtle stands tall to the southeast of Wang'an Island. Upon entering the center, visitors are treated to a view of Wang'an's natural ecology, featuring migratory birds and endangered species. Of course, the most important exhibit is the "green sea turtle." The displays include information on the identification of turtle species and their habitats, as well as the connection between sea turtles and the folk blessing activity "Shangyuan Qigu." Notably, at the entrance of the exhibition hall stands the "Haoshantang" stone tablet, which records that 130 years ago, local gentry in the Wang'an area raised funds to protect sea turtles and oxen. The inscription stipulates that residents who show compassion for life should be rewarded, while those who violate this principle would face severe penalties, reflecting a balance of grace and authority. Today, this inscription serves as an important testament to the early ancestors' efforts in sea turtle ecological conservation. Upon entering the Green Sea Turtle Conservation Center, the first sight is the exhibition hall, with a multimedia presentation room to the right. Every day from 10 AM to 4 PM, ecological videos about green sea turtles are played on the hour. Groups of more than ten people can also reserve guided tour services, allowing learning and visiting to become an intellectually stimulating experience.
