Jianying Park Introduction
Between Dayong Village and Shanxing Village in Fenglin Township, there is the Hualien River. Since ancient times, during the dry season, there was only a bamboo bridge for people to cross. In the summer of the 66th year of the Republic of China, a typhoon caused the bamboo bridge to be washed away by floodwaters. At that time, the academic director Chen Guoyi and three teachers, Zhang Jian, Deng Yuying, and Lin Baoxuan, who served at Shanxing Elementary School, planned to cross the river hand in hand to get to school, despite the swift current. Unfortunately, during the crossing, they lost their footing and fell into the water, and tragically, teachers Zhang Jian and Deng Yuying drowned.
