Christ Church, Sun Moon Lake Introduction
The Cheng Ching Lake Jesus Church is hidden among the trees on the hillside of the Shuishe Peninsula. The Romanesque building, characterized by its yellow walls and white columns, embodies classical elegance, and offers a panoramic view of Sun Moon Lake. Constructed in 1971 by former President Chiang Kai-shek and his wife during their visit to pray, the church's surrounding lounge and dormitory were cracked and tilted during the 921 earthquake. It was renovated by the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration and reopened for visitors in 2003, becoming a popular spot for wedding photography for both domestic and international tourists. In 2017, the Jesus Church was leased to a private company for operational management, which revamped it with professional aesthetics for weddings and bridal photography, allowing this traditionally styled church to unveil its mysterious charm and serve as a dreamlike destination for couples embarking on a journey of happiness by the lake.
