Nanzhuang Visitor Center Introduction
The Nanzhuang Visitor Center was established on April 20, 2003, and is the first visitor center under the jurisdiction of the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to receive the Green Building Label. The building meets four major indicators: greenery, site water retention, daily energy conservation, and water resource management. It is located next to Nanzhuang Old Street and was inaugurated on January 17, 2009. In the past, Nanzhuang thrived on forestry and mining, which has since been replaced by the tourism and leisure industry, making it a town rich in multicultural integration. Therefore, the interior furnishings of the visitor center incorporate Hakka and indigenous elements, providing visitors with travel information, consultation services, attractions introduction, multimedia film tours, and free experiences of indigenous and Hakka clothing, along with convenient services such as wireless internet (iTaiwan), car charging, luggage storage, wheelchair rentals, umbrella loans, and reading glasses. The activity plaza next to the visitor center periodically hosts street performer shows and seasonal festivals on weekends. To promote handicrafts, the visitor center holds a free "Handicraft DIY" workshop every month, inviting local Hakka and indigenous teachers to provide hands-on teaching, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of different cultures.
