Nanzhuang Visitor Center Introduction

The Nanzhuang Visitor Center was established on April 20, 2003. The current building is the first visitor center under the jurisdiction of the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to receive the Green Building Label. The building meets four major indicators: greenery, site water retention, daily energy conservation, and water resources. It is adjacent to Nanzhuang Old Street and was officially opened on January 17, 2009. Nanzhuang once thrived with forestry and mining, which later transitioned to a leisure tourism industry. It is a town that integrates multiple cultures, so the interior of the visitor center incorporates Hakka and indigenous elements. It provides visitors with travel information, consultation services, attraction introductions, multimedia film guides, and free experiences with indigenous and Hakka costumes. Additional convenient services include Wi-Fi (iTaiwan), car charging, luggage storage, wheelchairs, umbrellas, and reading glasses for borrowing. The activity square next to the visitor center occasionally hosts street performer shows and seasonal festivals on holidays. To promote crafts, the visitor center holds free “DIY Craft Activities” each month, inviting local Hakka and indigenous teachers to provide hands-on instruction, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of different cultures.
