Nanzhuang Visitor Center Introduction
The Nanzhuang Visitor Center was established on April 20, 2003, and is the first visitor center in Taiwan to receive the Green Building Label from the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. The building meets four major criteria: greening, site water conservation, daily energy saving, and water resource management. Located next to the historical Nanzhuang Old Street, it was inaugurated on January 17, 2009. Nanzhuang was once prosperous in forestry and mining, but later transformed into a tourism and leisure destination, embodying a blend of multicultural elements. The interior of the visitor center incorporates Hakka and indigenous elements, providing visitors with travel information, consultation services, attraction introductions, multimedia video tours, and free experiences of indigenous and Hakka clothing. It also offers convenient services such as free Wi-Fi (iTaiwan), car charging, luggage storage, wheelchair and umbrella lending, and reading glasses borrowing. The activity plaza adjacent to the visitor center hosts occasional street performances and seasonal festivals. To promote handicrafts, the visitor center holds free "Handicraft DIY" sessions each month, inviting local Hakka and indigenous teachers to provide hands-on instruction, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of different cultures.
