Nanzhuang Visitor Center Introduction
The Nan Chuang Visitor Center was established on April 20, 2003. The current building is the first visitor center under the jurisdiction of the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to receive the Green Building Certification. The building meets four major indicators: vegetation area, groundwater retention, energy conservation, and water resource management. It is located adjacent to the Nan Chuang Old Street and was officially inaugurated on January 17, 2009. Once thriving with forestry and mining, Nan Chuang has since transitioned to a tourism and leisure industry, creating a diverse cultural blend. The interior decoration of the visitor center incorporates Hakka and indigenous elements, providing visitors with travel information, consultation services, attraction introductions, multimedia video guides, and free experiences with indigenous and Hakka costumes. Other amenities include wireless internet (iTaiwan), electric vehicle charging, luggage storage, wheelchair, umbrella, and reading glasses borrowing services. The activity plaza next to the visitor center regularly hosts street performer shows and seasonal celebrations on weekends. To promote handicrafts, the visitor center holds free “Handicraft DIY” sessions every month, inviting local Hakka and indigenous teachers to provide hands-on instruction, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of different cultures.
