Nanzhuang Tourist Center Introduction

The Nanzhuang Visitor Center was established on April 20, 2003. It is the first visitor center under the jurisdiction of the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to receive a green building certification. The structure meets four major criteria: greening, site water conservation, daily energy efficiency, and water resource management. Located adjacent to Nanzhuang Old Street, it was inaugurated on January 17, 2009. Historically, Nanzhuang flourished with timber and mining industries, which have since been replaced by the tourism and leisure sector, making it a multicultural town. The interior decor of the visitor center incorporates elements of Hakka and indigenous cultures, offering visitors tourism information, consultation services, attraction introductions, multimedia video guides, and free experiences of indigenous and Hakka costumes. It also provides convenient services such as free Wi-Fi (iTaiwan), car charging, luggage storage, wheelchair rentals, umbrellas, and reading glasses. The activity plaza next to the visitor center hosts performances by street artists and seasonal festival events on weekends. To promote handicrafts, the center organizes monthly free "Handicraft DIY" sessions, inviting local Hakka and indigenous instructors to impart their skills, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of different cultures.
