Monkey Mountain Sky Bridge Introduction
Located in the Monkey Lookout Recreation Area of Fushan Village, Nantou City, it is a famous attraction in the Bagua Mountain Scenic Area. The valley topography resembles a well, and there is a small peak in front of the valley that looks like a monkey crouching over the well, thus the name "Monkey Lookout." The Bagua Mountains span Nantou and Changhua, with two hiking trails above: one connecting to a scenic pavilion in a tea plantation, and the other leading to a lookout platform at Monkey Lookout. Originally, there was a valley between the two, but it is now connected by a sky bridge, which not only provides convenience but also serves as a major highlight of the recreation area. The park features beautiful garden trails and landscaped corridors, with a lookout tower at the end offering distant views of the beautiful Changhua Plain. Inside the tower, there is a well that allows visitors to experience the essence of a monkey looking into a well. The sky bridge spans the valley of Monkey Lookout and is the longest sky ladder in Taiwan, as well as the first ladder suspension bridge in the country, measuring 204 meters in total, with 265 steps and an elevation difference of 5.65 meters at both ends. The bridge can accommodate up to 150 people, providing excellent views of the Changhua Plain, and on clear days, one can see the Xiluo Bridge and the mouth of the Zhuoshui River in the distance, offering breathtaking scenery. As the sunset descends, the sky bridge transforms, with LED lights automatically illuminating, making it look like a smile hanging in the gloomy mountains from afar, leading to its nickname "Smile Ladder." On the other side of the suspension bridge, there is a scenic platform that, while not at the highest point, still offers great views for sunset watching. The Monkey Lookout Recreation Area is also renowned as "Sunset Valley," and if you happen to be there during sunset, find a good spot, pause, and enjoy the golden beauty of the twilight. In addition to the famous sky ladder attracting crowds, the surrounding recreation area also has parking lots and a visitor service center, making travel to this destination more convenient.
