Monkey Bridge Introduction
Located in the Monkey Well Recreation Area in Fushan Village, Nantou City, it is a famous attraction in the Bagua Mountain Scenic Area. The valley's topography resembles a well, and in front of the valley, there is a small peak that looks like a monkey crouching and gazing into the well, hence the name "Monkey Well." The Bagua Mountain Range spans Nantou and Changhua, with two hiking trails on its upper side. One connects to a viewing pavilion in the tea gardens, while the other leads to a lookout platform at Monkey Well. Originally, there was a valley between the two, but now they are linked by the Sky Bridge, which not only provides convenience but has also become a major highlight of the recreation area. Within the park, there are beautiful garden pathways and scenic corridors. At the end of the park, there is a viewing tower that offers a distant view of the picturesque Changhua Plain; inside the tower, there is a well that allows visitors to experience the situation of a monkey exploring a well. The Sky Bridge spans the valley of Monkey Well, making it the longest ladder bridge in Taiwan and the first suspension ladder bridge, measuring 204 meters in length, with a total of 265 steps and a height difference of 5.65 meters at both ends. The bridge can accommodate up to 150 people, providing excellent views of the Changhua Plain. On clear days, visitors can also see the Xiluo Bridge and the mouth of the Zhuoshui River, enjoying breathtaking scenery. As the sun sets, the Sky Bridge transforms with LED lights that automatically illuminate, resembling a smile hanging over the dark mountains from a distance, which is why it is also known as the "Smiling Ladder." On the other side of the suspension bridge, there is a scenic platform, which, though not at the highest point, is still an excellent spot to view the sunset. The Monkey Well Recreation Area is also known as "Sunset Valley"; if the visit coincides with the setting sun, it's worth finding a good spot to pause and admire the golden scenery of the evening glow. In addition to the famous iconic ladder attracting crowds, the recreation area is equipped with parking lots and a visitor service center, making travel to this destination more convenient.
