Monkey Diving Sky Bridge Introduction

The Monkey Exploring Well Recreational Area, located in Fushan Village, Nantou City, is a famous attraction in the Bagua Mountain Scenic Area. The valley's terrain resembles a well, and in front of the valley, there is a small peak that looks like a monkey squatting and looking down into the well, hence the name "Monkey Exploring Well." The Bagua Mountain Range spans Nantou and Changhua, with two hiking trails above: one connects to a viewing pavilion in the tea plantation, while the other leads to the observation deck overlooking the Monkey Exploring Well. Originally, there was a valley between the two, but it has now been connected by the Sky Bridge, which not only provides convenience but also serves as a highlight of the recreational area. The park features beautiful garden paths and scenic corridors, and at the end of the park, there is an observation tower where visitors can enjoy the stunning views of the Changhua Plain; the tower contains a well, allowing visitors to experience the scenario of a monkey exploring a well. The Sky Bridge spans across the valley of Monkey Exploring Well, making it the longest sky ladder in Taiwan and the first ladder suspension bridge in the country, measuring 204 meters in length with a total of 265 steps. The height difference between both ends of the bridge is 5.65 meters, and it can accommodate up to 150 people. On the bridge, one can enjoy an excellent view of the Changhua Plain, and if the weather is clear, even the Xiluo Bridge and the mouth of the Zhuoshui River can be seen in the distance, showcasing breathtaking scenery. As the sun sets, the Sky Bridge transforms as the LED lights automatically turn on, appearing like a smile hanging in the gray mountain, which gives it an additional charm and earns it the nickname "Smiling Ladder." On the other side of the suspension bridge, there is a viewing platform that, though not located at a high point, still offers a great spot for watching the sunset. The Monkey Exploring Well Recreational Area is also affectionately known as "Sunset Valley." If your visit coincides with sunset, consider finding a good spot to pause and enjoy the beautiful golden scenery cast by the setting sun. In addition to the famous sky ladder that attracts crowds, parking lots and a visitor center have been established around the recreational area to make travel more convenient.
