Songmao Tribe - Deer Gathering Trail Introduction
The Shoulu Trail, located next to the Songmao Tribe in Lishan, was formerly a hunting ground for the tribe's hunters. It preserves a highly intact ecosystem and offers a diverse and rich landscape, making it a hidden gem in Lishan! The trail runs alongside the upstream of the Dajia River, featuring gentle slopes and abundant shade, making it an easy and pleasant walk. The Shoulu Trail showcases different natural beauties throughout the seasons, with the autumn foliage being particularly breathtaking, as the maple trees don their orange-red coats, adding romance to the hidden journey. Along the trail, there is also a special natural carpet of pine needles formed by years of fallen needles from the surrounding pine trees, creating a bouncy ground reminiscent of a carpet, which is quite unique. Additionally, the Shoulu Trail serves as an important area for the rehabilitation of wildlife such as the Formosan Sambar and the Formosan Salmon, showcasing the area's ecological diversity. Another highlight of the Shoulu Trail is the impressive shale cliffs, resembling the columnar basalt of Penghu, formed by the pressure of tectonic movements and the long-term erosion by the Dajia River, a stunning display that evokes admiration for nature's artistry. From beneath the Renshou Bridge along the trail, one can easily enjoy the shale cliffs and the rolling mountains interspersed with the blue sky and white clouds. Exploring the culture of the Atayal Tribe, the Shoulu Trail belongs to the activities of the Atayal Songmao Tribe, where one can deeply feel the rich Atayal culture. Along the trail, visitors can see remnants of over a hundred-year-old Atayal houses, and by visiting the tribe, one can participate in traditional craft workshops and taste authentic tribal cuisine, experiencing the beautiful and unique culture of the Atayal people firsthand.
