New Jiayang Black Forest Introduction

Located above the Xinjayang Village, the Lishan Black Forest is an important hunting ground for the Atayal people. The towering ancient trees in the forest reach up to the sky, and even during the day, the dense foliage blocks the sunlight, making the forest eerily dark, hence the name "Black Forest." The Black Forest boasts rich ecological resources, and the ancient hunting paths that wind through it have now been planned as forest trails, allowing visitors to appreciate the original scenery of high-altitude coniferous forests. Walking on the soft pine needles and the rustling leaves, visitors can immerse themselves in the abundant phytoncides, and if lucky, may even encounter a Formosan serow! While walking on the Black Forest Trail, in addition to observing the ferns, ancient trees, and mosses within the forest, don't forget to step out of the forest to enjoy the beautiful tea garden scenery. The ancient tea garden, developed by the local indigenous people, is the highest elevation tea garden in Taiwan, and it employs green practices in cultivating tea plants. Situated at an altitude of about 2,200 meters, the ancient tea garden is shrouded in mist year-round, experiencing a significant temperature difference between day and night, combined with pure mountain spring water from the Black Forest for irrigation, which has earned the tea produced here numerous awards and international recognition in competitions. The Black Forest is a crucial hunting ground for the Atayal people, holding significant meaning for the villagers, and the ancient tea garden is private property. Therefore, friends wishing to visit the Black Forest to appreciate its beauty must contact the village in advance to arrange a guided tour; please do not trespass!
