New Jiayang Black Forest Introduction
Located above the Xinjayung tribe, the Lishan Black Forest is an important hunting ground for the Atayal people. The towering ancient trees in the forest reach for the sky, and even during the day, the sunlight is unable to penetrate the dense foliage, resulting in a dark, shadowy atmosphere, hence the name "Black Forest." The Black Forest is rich in ecological resources, with ancient hunting trails that have now been transformed into forest pathways, allowing visitors to experience the pristine appearance of the high-altitude coniferous forests. Walking on the soft pine needles and the rustling leaves, immersed in the abundance of phytoncides, you might even encounter Formosan serows if you're lucky! While walking the Black Forest trail, in addition to observing the ferns, ancient trees, and moss within the forest, don't forget to step out and admire the beautiful tea garden scenery. The historic tea garden, developed by the local tribespeople, is the highest tea garden in Taiwan, and it is also an eco-friendly tea garden that uses sustainable cultivation practices. Situated at an elevation of approximately 2,200 meters, the ancient tea garden is shrouded in mist year-round, experiences significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, and is nourished by pure mountain spring water from the Black Forest, resulting in tea leaves that have won numerous awards and gained international recognition. The Black Forest holds significant meaning for the Atayal people as an important hunting ground, and the ancient tea garden is private property, so friends who wish to visit the Black Forest must contact the tribe in advance to arrange for a guided tour; do not trespass without permission!
