New Jia Yang Black Forest Introduction
Located above the Xinjayung Village, the Lishan Black Forest is an important hunting ground for the Atayal people. The towering ancient trees in the forest reach towards the sky, and even during the day, sunlight is unable to penetrate the dense foliage, resulting in total darkness, hence the name "Black Forest." The Black Forest is rich in ecological resources, with ancient hunting trails now planned as forest trails, allowing visitors to glimpses of the pristine scenery of high-altitude coniferous forests. Walking on the soft pine needles and rustling fallen leaves, immersed in the abundant phytoncides, and if lucky, one might encounter a Formosan sika deer! While walking on the Black Forest trail, in addition to observing the ferns, ancient trees, and mosses within the forest, don't forget to step out of the forest to appreciate the beautiful tea garden scenery. The ancient tea garden, established by local tribespeople, is the highest-altitude tea garden in Taiwan and grows tea trees using eco-friendly methods. Situated at an elevation of about 2,200 meters, it is surrounded by mist year-round, experiences significant temperature differences between day and night, and is irrigated by pure mountain spring water from the Black Forest, making the tea leaves produced here win multiple awards and gain international recognition in competitions. The Black Forest is an important hunting ground for the Atayal people and holds significant meaning for the villagers. Since the ancient tea garden is privately owned, friends wishing to explore the Black Forest must contact the village in advance to arrange for a guided tour; do not trespass!
