Longgong Waterfall Introduction
Longgong Waterfall, located in Ruifeng Village, Meishan Township, Chiayi County, is the most breathtaking highlight of the Zhukeng River Trail. This hanging waterfall has a drop of about 120 meters, with water cascading down the steep cliffs, creating an impressive spectacle reminiscent of white silk. What astounds travelers the most is the naturally formed recessed rock wall beneath the waterfall, where the trail cuts across the rock fissures, allowing for an up-close experience of the stunning waterfall. The Zhukeng River Trail, which is approximately 3.3 kilometers long, was once known as the "Salt Transport Ancient Trail" used by Han Chinese to access the mountains for gathering and transporting essential goods. The trail is rich in natural landscapes, with several suspension bridges spanning deep valleys, connecting the original forests with layered canyons. Strolling along the path not only allows one to breathe in the abundant negative ions and phytoncides but also to appreciate the magnificent folded landscapes left by tectonic movements. Currently, the trail is open for entrance from the west entry to Bridges 8 and 9, where travelers can reach Longgong Waterfall.
