Thaishin Rock Introduction
Taixing Temple is a historic temple dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva and is currently classified as a third-level historic site in Chiayi County. It was established during the Qing Dynasty in the Qianlong period, when a Fujian devotee named Huang Genlong brought the statues of Guanyin and Nezha across the sea to Taiwan, initially constructing a simple bamboo house for worship. As time passed, the number of devotees gradually increased, and the temple underwent several renovations, with a significant reconstruction around 1987 leading to its majestic appearance today. Every year on the fifth day of the lunar calendar's first month, Taixing Temple hosts a pilgrimage to pray for blessings, attracting participation from the entire village and hoping for peace and prosperity in the new year. Additionally, the nineteenth day of the second lunar month marks the birthday of Guanyin Bodhisattva, during which the temple holds a grand celebration, setting up numerous tables to warmly host pilgrims from various places; this day is also the busiest and most lively time for the entire village. Taixing Temple is not only a center of faith for local residents but also an important historic site that integrates cultural history and religious atmosphere, making it worth visiting for tourists to experience the local devotion and cultural charm.
