Taichung Rock Introduction
Taixing Rock is a historic temple dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva and is classified as a third-level historical site in Chiayi County. Established during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, it was originally built by a Fujian devotee named Huang Genlong, who welcomed the statues of Guanyin and Nezha to Taiwan by crossing the sea. The initial structure was a simple bamboo hut. Over the years, as the number of devotees grew, the temple underwent several renovations, and around 1987, it was rebuilt into the magnificent structure it is today. Every year on the fifth day of the first lunar month, Taixing Rock holds a Guanyin procession and blessing activity, attracting local residents to participate together, praying for a safe and smooth new year. Additionally, the nineteenth day of the second lunar month marks the birthday of Guanyin Bodhisattva, and the temple hosts a grand celebration with dozens of tables to warmly welcome pilgrims from various places. This day is also the liveliest and most crowded moment for the entire village. Taixing Rock is not only a center of faith for local residents but also an important historical site that blends cultural history and religious atmosphere, making it worth a visit for tourists to experience the sincere faith and humanistic charm of the area.
