Taix ingyan Introduction
Taixing Temple is a historical temple dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva, classified as a third-level historic site in Chiayi County. Established during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the temple was founded by a Fujian devotee, Huang Genlong, who welcomed the statues of Guanyin and Nezha by crossing the sea to Taiwan. Initially, it was a simple bamboo house. As time passed, the number of devotees gradually increased, and the temple underwent several renovations, eventually being rebuilt in 1987 into the grand structure seen today. Every year on the fifth day of the lunar calendar, Taixing Temple hosts a Guanyin pilgrimage blessing event, attracting the participation of the entire village to pray for peace and prosperity in the new year. Additionally, the nineteenth day of the second lunar month marks Guanyin's birthday, and the temple holds a grand celebration with numerous tables set up to warmly welcome incense-bearing devotees from various places. This day is the liveliest moment in the village, filled with crowds. Taixing Temple serves not only as a faith center for local residents but is also an important historic site that blends cultural heritage and religious atmosphere, making it a worthwhile visit for tourists to experience the local pious faith and cultural charm.
