Taixing Rock Introduction
Taixing Rock is a temple with a long history, dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva, and is now a designated third-level historic site in Chiayi County. Taixing Rock was founded during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty when Huang Genlong, a believer from Fujian, welcomed the statues of Guanyin Bodhisattva and Nezha into Taiwan, beginning with a simple bamboo hut. As time went by, the number of devotees gradually increased, and the temple underwent several renovations, being rebuilt into its current grand and majestic structure around 1987. Every year on the fifth day of the lunar calendar, Taixing Rock holds a Guanyin pilgrimage for blessings, attracting the participation of the entire village in prayer for peace and smoothness in the new year. In addition, the nineteenth day of the second lunar month marks the birthday of Guanyin Bodhisattva, on which the temple hosts a grand festival, offering dozens of tables of food to warmly welcome pilgrims from near and far. This day also sees the village bustling with activity. Taixing Rock is not only the faith center for local residents but also an important historic site that integrates historical culture and religious atmosphere, making it a worthy visit for tourists to experience the local pious faith and cultural charm.
