Located at County Road 166, 71.5K, near the Ruili No. 1 Bridge. The park features clear water and a serene natural environment, where wild birds, butterflies, beetles, fireflies, and frogs can be seen. It is a green trail that combines ecology and recreation. The trails in the park are mainly composed of wooden paths and stone walls. In addition to wooden plank paths, the mountain loop trail also includes stable and easy-to-walk imitation wooden steps, offering excellent scenery. The Yuan Tan Creek flows through layers of sandstone and shale, characterized by developed joints, resulting in multi-level waterfalls, potholes, towering cliffs, narrow valleys, and steep gradients, making it the best spot for observing mid-elevation valley landscapes. Moreover, its environment is rich in moisture and has extremely high humidity, making it suitable for the growth of moisture-loving epiphytic plants. Common trees include Cinnamomum camphora, Litsea cubeba, Calocedrus formosana, and Taiwan hackberry. Epiphytic plants include Asplenium nidus and Belmore fern. The unique topography and environmental conditions create an incredibly rich ecological system in this park.

Yuantan Ecological Park Introduction

Located at 71.5K on County Road 166, near the No. 1 Bridge in Ruili. The park features clear water and a serene natural environment, where wild birds, butterflies, beetles, fireflies, and frogs can be observed. It is a green trail that combines ecology and leisure. The trails within the park consist mainly of wooden planks and stone walls. The mountain trail, besides the wooden paths, also has imitation wooden stairways that are smooth and easy to walk on, offering excellent scenery. The Yuan Tan Stream flows through strata of sandstone and shale interlayers, characterized by well-developed joints, leading to multi-tiered waterfalls, potholes, towering cliffs, narrow valleys, and steep slopes, making it the best spot to observe mid-elevation stream valley landscapes. Additionally, the area is rich in moisture and has a high humidity level, suitable for hydrophilic epiphytic plants. Common trees include Machilus thunbergii, Ailanthus triphysa, Neolitsea sericea, and Taiwan Catalpa. Epiphytes like Polypodium formosum and Asplenium nidus can also be found. The unique topography and environmental conditions weave together an incredibly rich ecosystem in this park.

Transportation Methods:1. Take bus 7315A (operates Monday to Saturday) or 7315 (operates Sunday) from Chiayi Train Station to Yun Tan Waterfall Station, and then walk uphill for about 7 minutes to reach the destination. 2. Take bus 7315A (operates Monday to Saturday) or 7315 (operates Sunday) from Chiayi Train Station to Ruili Mountain Villa Station, and then walk downhill for about 7 minutes to reach the destination. 3. Take the 110 Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Ruili Line (operates Saturday and Sunday) from Chiayi Train Station to Yuan Tan Ecological Park Station to reach the destination.


Remarks:The 1st-floor store and 2nd-floor restaurant are open daily from 09:00 to 17:00, and are closed every Tuesday.
