Yuantan Ecological Park Introduction
Located at 71.5K on County Road 166, near the No. 1 Bridge in Ruili. The park features clear water and a serene natural environment, where wild birds, butterflies, beetles, fireflies, and frogs can be observed. It is a green trail that combines ecology and leisure. The trails within the park consist mainly of wooden planks and stone walls. The mountain trail, besides the wooden paths, also has imitation wooden stairways that are smooth and easy to walk on, offering excellent scenery. The Yuan Tan Stream flows through strata of sandstone and shale interlayers, characterized by well-developed joints, leading to multi-tiered waterfalls, potholes, towering cliffs, narrow valleys, and steep slopes, making it the best spot to observe mid-elevation stream valley landscapes. Additionally, the area is rich in moisture and has a high humidity level, suitable for hydrophilic epiphytic plants. Common trees include Machilus thunbergii, Ailanthus triphysa, Neolitsea sericea, and Taiwan Catalpa. Epiphytes like Polypodium formosum and Asplenium nidus can also be found. The unique topography and environmental conditions weave together an incredibly rich ecosystem in this park.
