Erjie Mountain Introduction
Erjian Mountain is located in Longyan Village, Meishan Township, Chiayi County. It is the secondary peak of Dajian Mountain, with an elevation of 1,274 meters. Starting from Zhuzicen, you can walk along the ridge of Dajian Mountain, pass the first-class triangulation point at the peak of Dajian Mountain, which is 1,304 meters high, and then gradually descend to a great spot for hikers to rest. Another trail begins from the back of Longxing Temple, where you can climb along the wooden path. Along the way, you'll pass through bamboo forests and cypress trees, occasionally traversing tea plantations that offer a unique flavor. During the late autumn and early winter when cold air hits, there’s a good chance to witness the magnificent sea of clouds, making walks along the trails feel like being in a paradise. Dajian Mountain has a peak at 1,299 meters, which has a first-class triangulation point's cornerstone. Both are located on the summit ridge, about a 15-minute walk apart. Towards the direction of Gukeng, you can overlook the Yunlin-Chiayi plains and betel palms; towards Meishan, you can enjoy views of the valleys and tea gardens, with a distant sight of Caoling, providing excellent visibility. There are three main trailheads for climbing Dajian Mountain: 1. Huashan 10-5 Trailhead: Located in Huashan Village, Gukeng Township, Yunlin County, starting from the Huashan Educational Farm at county road 149, kilometer 29.
