Sh十八 Arhats Mountain Recreation Area Introduction
Shihmen Mountain, known as "Little Guilin of Taiwan," is the most prominent landmark in the Liugui area. Geographically, it belongs to a very unique "badlands" topography and is one of Taiwan's three major 火炎山 formations. The entire area of Shihmen Mountain is composed of thick gravel layers, which have been shaped by years of rain erosion and differential erosion, resulting in dozens of uniquely shaped peaks. These peaks line up along the banks of the Laoning River and, from a distance, resemble standing Buddhist monks, hence its name "Shihmen Mountain." It is a spectacular landscape that must be visited when traveling along Taiwan Route 27甲.
