"The Taiwan Salt Museum has been closed for renovation since January 10, 2022." The Taiwan Salt Museum is the only themed museum in Taiwan that focuses on the salt industry, preserving hundreds of years of cultural heritage related to salt production. "Salt" is the crystallization of the sweat and tears of salt workers, and its mound-like appearance is particularly distinctive, resembling two white pyramids standing in the salt fields from a distance. To the east of the museum is the Guangying Stalactite Museum, to the north is the residential area of salt workers, and to the west are the abandoned mechanical salt fields, which overlook the Qigu Salt Mountain in the distance. Upon entering the main hall, visitors are greeted with a replica of the scenic beauty of the salt fields from the past, allowing them to experience the life of salt workers during the 1940s and 1950s and understand the sweet and bitter aspects of their lives. The second floor of the museum is a miniature history of the development of Taiwan’s salt industry, featuring stories told by local elders and salt workers, displays of yellowed old photographs, and various ingenious uses of salt related to daily life, making it very suitable for children to explore.
