Qigu Lagoon Introduction
The inner sea referred to by the fishermen of Qigu is the Qigu lagoon, which was shaped by the four diversions of the Zengwen River, resulting in the current landscape. It is the largest lagoon in Taiwan. To the east of the Qigu lagoon is the Qigu salt field, to the west is the Wangzailiao area, to the south is the northern dike of the Haipu fish farm, and to the north extends to the southwest channel of Qingshan Harbor. The total area is approximately 1,600 hectares, featuring four sandbars from north to south, namely Qingshan Harbor sandbar, Wangzailiao sandbar, Dingtouesa sandbar, and Xinfulong sandbar. The ecological resources here are extremely rich, with over thirty species of crabs alone and more than two hundred types of fish, shrimp, and shellfish, serving as a source of livelihood for the local residents.
