Xiangtian Lake Tribe Introduction
Xiangtian Lake is located in Donghe Village, Nanzhuang Township, at an elevation of approximately 738 meters. The Saisiyat name for Xiangtian Lake is rareme:an. The term "rareme:an" originates from the time when the ancestors cultivated this land and discovered many plants on it, whose seeds can be used for dye. The Saisiyat language refers to this dye as rareme:, and the place producing this dye plant is called an. Therefore, Xiangtian Lake is referred to as rareme:an, meaning "the place filled with dye trees." During the Japanese colonial period, the Japanese discovered a stream nearby, where rice could be cultivated in the center, surrounded by mountains on three sides. Later, when Han people arrived, they named this small basin Yangtian Lake, and after the government relocated to Taiwan, the name was changed to Xiangtian Lake.
