Donghe Valu Introduction

Waluo is located in Nanjo Township, Miaoli County, covering an area of approximately 76 square kilometers. The village is rich in diverse cultures, with the Saisiyat people residing in the settlements of Xiangtian Lake, Dawo Mountain, Dazhuwei, E Gong Jue, and Donghe. The Atayal people inhabit the villages of Luchang, Luhu, Shibi, and Donghe. Hakka people live in Hengpingbei, Luailiao, and Donghe, totaling 347 households with around 1,325 individuals. Near the Donghe Suspension Bridge, a prominent Japanese-style wooden building, originally constructed as a police station in 1924, was abandoned after 1988 and was reconstructed in 2005 with the support of the Indigenous Peoples Commission due to local efforts.
