Donghe Waruwu Introduction
Waluo is located in Nanjuang Township, Miaoli County, covering an area of approximately 76 square kilometers. The village is rich in diverse cultures, including the Seediq people who inhabit the Xiangtian Lake, Dawo Mountain, Dazhuwei, E-gong-ji, and Donghe villages. The Atayal people reside in the Luchang, Luhu, Shibi, and Donghe villages. The Hakka people live in Hengpingbei, Luailiao, and Donghe, with a total of 347 households and around 1,325 people. Near the Donghe Suspension Bridge stands a distinctive Japanese-style wooden building, which was the old police station built in the 13th year of the Republic of China. It was abandoned after the 78th year of the Republic of China and was restored in the 94th year with the help of the Indigenous Peoples Commission due to the efforts of local residents.
