Donghe Warou Introduction

Walug is located within the boundaries of Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli County, covering an area of approximately 76 square kilometers. The village is rich in diverse cultures, including the Sámi people residing in tribes such as Xiang Tian Lake, Da Wo Mountain, Da Zhu Wei, E Gong Ji, and Donghe. The Atayal people live in tribes like Lu Chang, Lu Hu, Shi Bi, and Donghe. The Hakka people are found in Heng Ping Bei, Lu Ai Liao, and Donghe, totaling 347 households with around 1,325 individuals. Near the Donghe Suspension Bridge, a striking Japanese wooden building, which was originally an old police station built in the 13th year of the Republic of China, was abandoned after the 77th year of the Republic of China and was only restored in the 94th year through efforts from local individuals with funding from the Indigenous Peoples Commission.
