Donghe Walu Introduction
Waluo is located in the Sanwan Township of Miaoli County, covering an area of approximately 76 square kilometers. The village is home to a rich array of diverse cultures, including the Saisiyat people residing in the Xiangtian Lake, Dawo Mountain, Dazhuwei, Egongji, and Donghe villages. The Atayal people live in the Luchang, Luhu, Shibi, and Donghe villages. The Hakka people are found in Hengpingbei, Luailiao, and Donghe, totaling 347 households with about 1,325 individuals. Near the Donghe Suspension Bridge, a prominent Japanese wooden building was constructed in 1924 as an old police station, which was abandoned after 1988 and was revitalized in 2005 with assistance from the Indigenous Peoples' Commission thanks to the efforts of local residents.
