Qiu Liang Gong Mother’s Filial Piety Archway Introduction
Qiu Liang-gong's mother, Mrs. Hsu, was the wife of General Qiu Zhi-ren of the Qing Dynasty. Shortly after Qiu Liang-gong's first month of life, his father, Qiu Zhi-ren, passed away. At that time, the young Mrs. Hsu worked hard to raise the newborn Qiu Liang-gong. After Qiu Liang-gong reached adulthood, he joined the military, rising from a low-level soldier to a general. In the 14th year of the Jiaqing era, Qiu Liang-gong was promoted to the Governor of Zhejiang for both land and water. He petitioned the emperor to commend his mother, Mrs. Hsu, which earned her recognition from Emperor Renzong of Qing, who posthumously granted her the title of First-Rank Grand Lady, and built an archway to honor her fidelity and dedication in raising her son alone. This archway was constructed in 1812, made of high-quality granite and green stone, with intricate carvings depicting Qiu Liang-gong's successful return to his hometown, along with couplets crafted by famous figures, leaving a profound impression!
