Chiu Liang-kong's Filial Piety Arch Introduction
Qiu Liangong's mother, Xu, was the wife of Qiu Zhiren, the General of Zhenwei during the Qing Dynasty. Shortly after Qiu Liangong's month-long celebration, his father, Qiu Zhiren, passed away. At that time, the young Xu worked hard to raise her newborn son, Qiu Liangong. After coming of age, Qiu Liangong joined the military, rising from a grassroots soldier to a general. In the 14th year of the Jiaqing era, Qiu Liangong was promoted to the Governor of Zhejiang's maritime and land forces and petitioned the emperor to honor his mother, Xu. He received commendation from Emperor Renzong, who posthumously granted her the title of First-Class Lady and built a memorial archway to acknowledge her loyalty and efforts in raising her son alone. This archway was constructed in 1812 using high-quality granite and blue stone, with intricate carvings depicting Qiu Liangong's successful return home, along with couplets inscribed by famous individuals, leaving a deep impression on visitors!
