Kinmen Civil Defense Tunnel Introduction
Since 1949, the wartime Kinmen has implemented the tactical goal of "preserving combat power underground and demonstrating firepower above ground." Beginning in 1968, a large number of underground tunnels were constructed utilizing the geological conditions of Kinmen granite. The Jincheng Civil Defense Tunnel is one of these tunnels. This tunnel is connected to important institutions underground, including the Kinmen Political Headquarters, Kinmen County Government, Kinmen Investigation Bureau, Kinmen People's Self-Defense Corps, Land Bank, Water Supply Plant, Kinmen Electric Company, Jincheng Station, and Kinmen Post Office, creating a comprehensive wartime preparedness network. Today, as wartime has passed, the Jincheng Civil Defense Tunnel has become a significant educational wartime relic. Free guided tours are available daily, allowing visitors to gain deeper insights into the anxieties of the wartime period. At the entrance to the second-floor tunnel, there is an interactive display themed around the Kinmen Veterans Recruitment Order. Visitors can try aiming and throwing grenades from an ammunition box into a bunker! Visitor information:
