Jincheng Civil Defense Tunnel Introduction
Since 1949, the battlefield of Kinmen has focused on the tactical goal of "preserving combat power underground and showcasing firepower above ground." Starting in 1968, a large number of underground tunnels were constructed using the geological conditions of Kinmen granite, with the Jincheng Civil Defense Tunnel being one of them. This tunnel is connected through an underground system to important agencies such as the Kinmen Administrative Office, Kinmen County Government, Kinmen Investigation Bureau, Kinmen County Self-Defense Force, Land Bank, Water Plant, Kinmen Electric Company, Jincheng Station, and Kinmen Post Office, creating a meticulous network for war readiness. Now that the war has passed, the Jincheng Civil Defense Tunnel has become an educational wartime relic, offering free guided tours daily for visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the fears experienced during the wartime period. At the entrance to the second-floor tunnel, there is an interactive theme display titled "Call to Arms from Kinmen Veterans," where you can try aiming grenades from an ammo box at a bunker!
