Cihu Introduction
If you're looking for a great spot to enjoy the sunset in Kinmen, Cihu Lake is definitely the local favorite! Cihu Lake is located in Jinping Township and was built in 1969 for strategic considerations. The part outside the embankment is the ocean, while the area within the embankment is what is now Cihu Lake. Later, a viewing platform was added to make the beautiful scenery of Cihu Lake more accessible to visitors. In the evening, the orange-red sun slowly sets from the horizon, casting colorful clouds reflecting the distant view of Xiamen across the strait, as well as on the historical "Tracks Fortress," creating a unique scene of Cihu Lake. From October to March each year, migratory birds that come to Kinmen for the winter gather around Cihu Lake, especially cormorants, with nearly three to four thousand birds flying back to their nests in a V formation, creating a spectacular sight that has earned Kinmen plenty of applause!
