Cihu Lake Introduction
If you ask where the locals in Kinmen enjoy watching the sunset, Cihu Lake is definitely a top choice! Located in Jinning Township, Cihu Lake was created in 1969 for strategic purposes, separated from the sea by an embankment. The area inside the embankment is now Cihu Lake, which was later enhanced with a viewing platform to further attract visitors. In the evening, the orange-red sunset slowly descends from the horizon, casting colorful clouds that reflect the distant view of Xiamen across the water, and illuminating the past landing site known as "Guaitiao Fort," creating a unique scene at Cihu Lake. From October to March each year, migratory birds wintering in Kinmen gather around Cihu Lake, with cormorants being the most numerous, forming flocks of nearly three to four thousand birds flying home in a V-formation, a spectacular sight that has garnered much applause for Kinmen!
