General Li Guangqian Temple Introduction
The Lee Guangqian General Temple is a place where many brothers who have served in Kinmen visit to pray for a smooth military life. In memory of Colonel Lee Guangqian, who bravely fought and sacrificed during the Battle of Guningtou, a temple was established for worship. Lee Guangqian was from Pingjiang County, Hunan Province. In 1949, during the tense situation of the Battle of Guningtou, despite the unfavorable circumstances for the Taiwanese military, Lee courageously led his troops to fight valiantly, and unfortunately, he was killed in action. After the battle, the local villagers, grateful for the soldiers' bravery in defending the nation, decided to hold a memorial outside the village to honor the fallen soldiers, with Lee Guangqian being the main deity. His statue is dressed in a grass-green military uniform and wears a military cap with the Blue Sky with a White Sun emblem. The villagers regard him as the guardian of the ancient battlefield. In 1976, the Ministry of National Defense posthumously promoted Lee Guangqian to the rank of Major General, and local residents later promoted him to Lieutenant General. In 1997, the temple was re-planned and rebuilt to its current appearance, with a stone monument erected in front, indicating that General Lee Guangqian rests here. It is said that as long as the prayers are righteous, General Lee will do his utmost to fulfill the people's wishes. When visiting Kinmen, it is worthwhile to pay a visit to this temple!
