Lie Kuan-Chien Temple Introduction
Visiting the General Li Guangqian Temple to pray for a smooth military life is one of the journeys many brothers who have served in Kinmen have made! To commemorate the brave and heroic sacrifice of Colonel Li Guangqian, who fought valiantly in the Battle of Guningtou, a temple was established in his honor. Li Guangqian was from Pingjiang County, Hunan Province. In 1949, during the tense situation of the Battle of Guningtou, despite the unfavorable position of the Taiwanese military, Li Guangqian led his troops bravely against the enemy but unfortunately met a hero's end. After the battle, local villagers, grateful for the bravery of the soldiers in protecting the country and the people, scheduled a time to honor the fallen soldiers outside the village, dedicating the temple to Li Guangqian as the main deity. The statue depicts him in a grass-green military uniform, wearing a military cap with the emblem of a blue sky and white sun. The villagers regard him as the guardian of the ancient battlefield. In 1976, the Ministry of National Defense posthumously promoted Li Guangqian to Major General, and the local people later elevated him to Lieutenant General. In 1997, the temple was planned and rebuilt to its current appearance, with a stone tablet erected in front of the temple indicating that General Li Guangqian rests here. It is said that as long as the request is sincere, General Li will do his best to fulfill the wishes of the people, so be sure to visit and pay your respects when in Kinmen!
