Baoyue Temple Introduction
Baoyue Temple, also known as Nan'an, was built during the Ming Dynasty. It was originally located next to the Xujiang Xiaowo Stone Carvings and the Wentai Pagoda, within the walls of today's Kinmen Distillery. The temple enshrines statues of Guanyin and Luohan. In front of the temple, there is Baoyue Spring, known for its excellent water quality. In 1953, Kinmen Distillery was established and, in order to obtain the source of water for brewing, Baoyue Temple was demolished. The liquor produced thereafter became the famous Kinmen Kaoliang liquor.
