Baoyue Temple Introduction

Baoyue Temple, also known as Nan'an, was built during the Ming Dynasty. It was originally located next to the Xujing Xiaowo Stone Carvings and the Wentai Pagoda, within the current walls of the Kinmen Distillery. The temple enshrined statues of Guanyin and Luohan. In front of the temple, there is a Baoyue Spring with excellent water quality. In the 42nd year of the Republic of China, the Kinmen Distillery was established, and to obtain a source of water for brewing, Baoyue Temple was demolished. The liquor subsequently produced became the famous Kinmen Kaoliang.
